Going into the VP via HDMI, tv set is a Westy 47" 1080p. When the console boots up I hear the 360 logo and then nothing. Games and dashboard have no audio. When I turn my amp on (vp optical out), the sounds works fine.

Anyone have this problem? The 360 plugged directly into the TV works fine.

TIA

anam8tr,

I do not understand your post. Are you saying you get no video if you go through the vp50?

With respect to audio, could you also be more specific about the problem.

I realize that this is not helpful, but I have a Xbox 360 elite hooked up via hdmi through a vp50 and it works fine. I do not run the audio through the vp50. Have you checked the specific output settings when you are inputting from the Elite? Maybe it is set to a resolution your tv cannot accept. Does the menu come up so you can check it? Does the vp50 blue status light come on showing proper connection?

If you are getting video with the xbox 360, but no audio, verify your audio settings are set to HDMI and not another audio port.

HDMI video works fine but the HDMI audio through the VP to the TV does not work. Also, have an optical cable to the VP from the elite and works fine to the amp, but not the TV.

Even if I choose HDMI or optical through the VP, tv does not recognize it. TV output settings (from elite) is 1080p.

I need to find a switcher that can do: 4HDMIs, 2 components, 2 svids and audios. I'd LOVE to get rid of the VP. Never liked it from day1.

Will the TV decode DD or DTS from an external source? Most TVS won't do that. You need to feed stereo PCM from the 360 over HDMI if you want to get audio from the TV.

That's a good point Aaron. I thought about that to, just couldn't find anywhere in the 360 to disable DD. Just saw an option for wma. I'll go searching in the 360 menus again as well as the 360 forums. I'll try the stereo outs on the audio dongle first and go from there. However I'm already using the stereo ins on the VP. Hate to throw another splitter in the mix.
Thanks.

Does 1080i work to the VP50? I have the same setup (not the same TV - have a projector), I had a couple of issues getting the VP50 synced sometimes with 1080P coming from the 360 - 1080i works perfectly. SJ

Go to the SYSTEM blade and go to the audio settings. Then hightlight digital output and choose digital stereo for your output.
It is in digital stereo mode when it first boots ups. That's why you can initially hear it then it switches to DD which is when you can't hear. Setting it to digital stereo will solve your problem.

It worked. Digital Stereo option was the key.
Thanks very much for the tip.

Ironically, selling the VP now (in the source components for sale- wink wink).
