I did.. I bought my 5070 refurbished on eBay about 2 months ago from Pioneer/Channel Advisor. I was fairly skeptical but I did some research and finally bought one when I got one for the price I wanted. I took a chance but I lucked out and got one that didn't really have any cosmetic flaws (which they don't guarantee). The only thing I noticed was if you walked up right up to it and looked at the black finish with light reflecting off of it, it appeared to have waves in it.

Anyway, right out of the box it started having problems. It would shut off after 15-30 minutes of usage and the standby led would flash in sets of eight. If the A/C was down to about 77* or so it would last a long time (an hour or more), but right after I got home from work when the house was still warm, it would turn off in a matter of minutes. So I called Pioneer and got it picked up for warranty work the next week. It took about a week for them to diagnose and a few weeks to get the part ordered and delivered because the field engineer was on vacation and then wasn't calling the shop back (probably catching up). A week later they had the part in the television but couldn't get the picture right, so they were working with the field engineer and he couldn't figure it out.

To make this longer story short, I am awaiting the delivery of my brand new 5080 between 9 and 12 tomorrow! :D

I was getting slightly aggravated about not having a TV for 2 months, but they new how to make me happy! lol :) Oh yeah, and they credited me back all of my warranty so it starts over when I receive it.

Just thought I would share my experience, just in case anyone else is considering this option. I tend to be more daring than most people I know when it comes to eBay though.

That's a pretty cool story! Keep us posted on how the rest of the process goes!!

This is very unusual.

So I guess we should disregard this from Pioneer:
eBay Sellers
Pioneer does NOT authorize any of its dealers to sell new products on eBay. Pioneer's agreements with its dealers prohibit sales on eBay. Accordingly, Pioneer does not offer its limited manufacturer's warranty or rebates for products purchased from any dealers on eBay

That is interesting. If I had seen that, I wouldn't have purchased it..
But it also isn't a new product... maybe I got lucky.. but from what I could tell, Channel Advisor (http://www.channeladvisor.com/) was selling the refurbished Pioneer products for Pioneer and appeared to be a respectable company with a good rating, so I trusted them. It came with the 180 day warranty parts and labor for refurbished products. I even registered my product with Pioneer as having purchased it from Channel Advisor on eBay.

I don't know, but I do have the brand new 5080 in my living room now! and it came with all the warranty paperwork for the 1 year parts and labor. Not sure if that will hold up though..

I will say that reading that makes me feel lucky that I have a tv at all..
