I currently own a Panasonic S53 upconverting DVD player. I noticed that it has three color selections and was wondering what the differences were and what I should use. I bought this DVD player for my Sharp 4264U 1080p LCD. Can someone explain the differences.
Much appreciated

Go to wikipedia. It's problably the best/fastest way to read as much or as little about the 2 color formats and color compression. SD and HD DVDs are encoded with 8bit YCbCr 4:2:0. With 8bit output you shouldn't see a difference using any of the 3 to your LCD if things are working correctly. You may want to check the FAQ in the sticky thread at the top, too.

The S53 should default to what is best for your TV based on the HDMI connection. My S53K defaults to YCbCr 4:4:4 for my Sony SXRD. I tried changing to YCbCr 4:2:2 and noticed no difference. IIRC, RGB is for if you connect to a TV's DVI input.

With an Oppo 980 hooked up to a samsung 3292d, YCbCr 4:4:4 provides a far superior picture over RGB 4:4:4.
