Thanks to HookMeUpImLocal!

It is highly likely, though not confirmed, that this board only works in the 10th generation 1080p displays.

Great news. I've been awaiting this baby for some time, since the 10UK were first released in all sizes other than the 50" & 65". :)

Thanks for putting this is a separate thread. :)

Yeah, that one 1080p DVI board is also only for the PF's. Shoot, doesn't Panasonic realize that people with 768p displays might like to input 1080p directly into their sets too? ;)

Bump. This board has been rumored for months, so I just want to make sure all the people from the various Panasonic commercial threads get a chance to see it.

Basically, if anyone is thinking about getting the 9th gen 1080p models, you would be strongly advised to wait for 10th gen if you have any interest in 1080p HDMI.

I spoke with my Panasonic rep today and he tells me that the units should start to ship around the first of November. Hang on Sloopy!!!!

What is the "number of active lines 1080"/"total number of lines 1125" all about?

what leads you to this conclusion? also, i looked over the manual quickly, didn't notice if it was hdmi 1.3 or what...

The only evidence I have is history. Newer boards have never been supported in older model displays. This could change though - you never know.

I *think* Techwiz said it was HDMI 1.2. But I am not sure if he knew for sure.

So this board is not going to work in my Panasonic TH-50PF9UK that I spent $4k on (only to have Panasonic slash the price by almost 50% after 2 months of release)?. Sadly Panasonic doesn't have the same respect for early adopters as Apple did with the iPhone. And they have been promising a 1080p HDMI board for the TH-50PF9UK since it came out.

So what does this do exactly?

I agree that their history is that newer boards don't work in older plasmas. But it just seems like to me, that this might be an exception specifically for the pf9uk. Too bad their customer service isn't any better, or someone could just call them up and ask. (Although you could, but it'd be curious as to what the answer is, and if it changes depending on the person you talk to. :) ) We'll see!

OK, they have:

These two threads should really be merged.

Is it true that this panel is still only 5000 to 1 contrast ratio? Does that mean it will be similar to the 50Pz700u?
THanks,
RA

I don't think anyone knows the answer to that for certain yet.

Ok. Thanks... Other than the contrast ratio... this set may be the perfect upgrade to my ED TH-42PD8UK...

As much as I'd love to get a 60"+ 1080p display, I'm not quite ready to upgrade my 42PWD8UK. Between my Wii and all the SD I *still* watch (unfortunately), the dubya-D serves me incredibly well.

I just like to read about all the new tech to torture myself.... :)

Looks like the contrast ratio is indeed raised to 10000:1.
