Anyone excited about the 360 release? Most of my friends plan to pick up the 360 version, so I figured I'll just buy the PC version when the price drops.
(Even though the beta is really tempting )

I've been waiting for this game for awhile. Plus it has the Half Life 2 trilogy and Portal (which looks interesting). For me it was a no brainer. Plus liongames.com was selling it for $38, so I jumped on it.

I have the PC version and I cant find any servers, so I may be worth the wait if you do most of your gamin on your 360. I just bought a $400 video card for my computer, so HAD to go with the PC version to justfy why I spent all that cash.

TF2 just screams 360, although I guess the console user will miss out on the mod scene.

Going with the 360 myself, although I imagine Halo 3 will be takeing most of my time hehe

What about it screams 360 exactly? The inferior controls? Lower framerate?

I don't believe frame rates will be an issue with either game with the way it was designed.

Controls aren't inferior if everyone is using the same type and the argument can be made that the 360 levels the playing field a bit.

I think he was probably referring to the integrated voice chat and community in general. Maybe because of the achievements as well, not sure.

I am probably going to go with the 360 version, but it is a tough call. I see slight advantages for both, but really its a toss up.

There is integrated voice chat and a huge comunity for Valve games on the PC as well. But anyway, yeah the game is great fun, I've been playing all day. I will likely have to buy the 360 version as well just to play with my 360 friends though.

I've been playing the beta for a couple days now on the PC and it's definitely a blast :) Although I do worry about how a few things will easily translate over to the 360--namely the ability for the Spy to quickly morph characters.

Anyways, there's no way it'll overcome Halo 3 MP...or even COD4...but it's still a VERY VERY VERY solid MP game. Honestly, the biggest issue is that there are TOO many incredible games coming out to choose from.

I've been watching TF2 beta videos on youtube. Looks great, I can't wait.

The superior controls and higher framerate are the reason I'll be playing it on my 360. :D

Apparently you didn't learn much from Shadowrun's release

This is one game where I am thinking 360 controls might be a hinderance. Some of the trailers showed a character rocket jumping all over the place. That can be done with a mouse/KB combo after some practice. But I fear it may be too difficult to translate to dual analog pads.

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are watch some of the Halo and Halo 2 videos on Youtube and I'm not just talking about the people that take advantage of auto-aim. Then you might think differently.

What does Halo have to do with rocket jumping? I know people can be accurate with the controller. But I am concerned you do not have the agility to quickly aim down, fire a rocket and aim back straight in a split second. But as someone said, the game will be fun because we will all have the same abilities. I just may miss the rocket jumping.

You know.. it doesn't even matter. I'm buying this for so many reasons... I'll just try out TF2 and see if I like it... can fit it in between Halo 3 matches.

Halo 1 and 2 have sticky aim if auto aim is off. Not to mention the crosshairs the size of a silver dollar.

TF2 screams PC, if anything. It's a PC franchise that originally came form a PC mod. I'm sure the 360 version will be great, though.

Uhm...rocket jumping is a HUGE part of TF.

I have no doubt that Valve thought through how it would work with the 360 controller and made adjustments to make it workable. I have no worries.

Shadowrun failed because of it's lack of content and price which this game doesn't suffer from.

I have high hopes they'll be able to get the controls for the console version smoothed out. At least it seem like it so far, from websites that've had some play time on the 360 version.

Five games?! A buy for sure. I've never played HALF LIFE, but I believe it's hailed as the best first-person shooter ever. All I know is TEAM FORTESS 2 looks awesome!

You're looking at 20-25 hours of single player content then. A steal.

I'm talking about people saying the controls would be terrible for it on the computer and how much everyone using keyboard/mouse would dominate people with a controller. Which, if you actually play it, is completely untrue.

Ah.... Got ya. I misunderstood what you originally said. I totally agree with your statement. I never saw a difference between PC/360 players.

I can't believe so few people play/talk about this game.

This game rules...

I rented Halo 3 after having Orange Box for about a week or so and played Halo 3 maybe 20 minutes and spent the rest of the time playing TF2.

It's so addictive.

I have voice issues in every server I've tried. I don't know if they can hear me.. but I sure as hell don't hear anyone and I see the voice icons blinking. R6 Vegas seems to work ok for me though. weird.

I dunno. I played TF a few times but it hasn't really hooked me yet.

Portal was great, though.

I love TF2, I just finished playing for 3 hours straight (today is my day off:)). But, I absolutely despise the lag issues that have been happening for the past few days. Right when I get in a good match with a good team...BAM!...'lost connection to host'.

I've spent about 40 hours playing TF2 on 360. I got all the achievements and kept on playing. It gets a good 2 hours a day from me still. Damn this game is great. :)

"I have voice issues in every server I've tried."
Voice is peer to peer on Live. It has nothing to do with servers. If the server had to handle voice traffic as well as game traffic, we would have a max of like 4 players per game. :) Missing voice usually means your router is blocking it.

Router is fine. Turns out I had Voice Chat set to friends only in my profile. Thanks for the suggestion though. :D

I can now feel more part of Team Fortress..err "2" that is. I really like the direction they took it. It wouldn't have stood a chance with COD4, Vegas, etc. as a multi-player war game.

I do miss my grenades though..

is there a AVS TF2 group?

is there a AVS TF2 group?

Don't think so, but there should be. I'm addicted as hell to this game - though last night I had a few games in a row with complete newbies. Which is fine if there are one or two - we all started somewhere. But about 1/2 of the players in each match were clueless. It takes all the challenge away when you're killing every enemy you contact, but it really sucks when your teammates can't work together as a ... team. :) I tried to help where I could...

Are you guys still playing TF2 regularly?

darklordjames

I was until about 2 weeks ago. The game has gone without patches to the maps for so long that the amount of exploiting makes playing the game pretty miserable. This is especially true on my favorite map, dustbowl. I spent about 150 hours in that game, and probably 120 of those hours were in dustbowl. :)

I figure I'll pick up the PC version shortly so I can get some better support.

I was playing in the weekly TF2 Game Night over at AGERocks.com, but my schedule no longer is free on Tuesday nights when those guys play. I agree on the exploits. Some of them are pretty ridiculous at this point. I'm still holding out hope that they'll fix them and get us some new maps, but it may just be too late at this point.

Don't think I've played it once since COD4 came out. I played that game to death. But as soon as I hit lvl 10 prestige, 55 I quit that too :(

Nothing else to shoot for.

anyone still play this? I think it had so much potential but the damn thing was always soooooooooo laggy for me and inconsistant(at best) to find decent games open. plus cod4 made me leave it in the dust. But i'd pick it up from time to time for a change of pace if the lag shenangins are gone.

I played the %&^#$ out of this game when it was released.

Then COD4 came out. That disc has a permanent home in my system.

I tried to play TF2 a while ago but it seemed too silly and slow in comparison.

The lag did kill it for me too.....

I played this game like crazy, until I got CoD4. Now I'm all-GTA, all-the-time. I still need to play all the HL2 content on the disc too. I think I pretty much played-out TF2; new maps would probably draw me back in, 'cause I absolutely love the game, but have just played the existing content to death. If I didn't have the HL2 content still to finish, I almost certainly would have traded this in by now.
