I have a Toshiba 42HP66 and I have serious burn in and ghost image problems. Something such as the menu can be on the screen for as little as a few seconds and the image will temporally burn in. Even the please wait that appears on the screen when the tv is first turned on leaves a ghost image that is quite visible. Most of the images go away after whitewashing the screen but some are permently burned in. My contrast is even set at 0. At first I thought this was normal but then I saw that my friend with the same tv did not have any problems with burn in. I do not even watch much tv with static images and when I do I whitewash the screen on commercials to remove ghost images. Also if I there are random red pixels that flash when a static image goes away or my screen viewing something black. What should I do? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same TV. There is some image retention on my screen as well. It is not permanent on my TV. As far as the red dot problem. I had my tv repaired because of this, however, when I got it back there were still red dots flashing around in black backgrounds. I did notice that there appears to be a bunch when I turn the tv on but they get less frequent as the tv remains on. Sorry no real answers for you... Overall though when I set my tv to the settings that were mentioned here in the forums my picture quality has been great.
