View Full Version : Co-location With Two Different Subwoofers

Hello,

I have a new subwoofer (not a STF-1) on order and will have an extra Hsu STF-1 when it arrives.

Currently, the designated subwoofer position is in the front left corner of the room, next to and below the left main speaker. My plan for co-location (If I understand the term correctly) would be to place the new sub in the designated subwoofer position, and move the STF-1 to the rear right corner of the room (effectively, nearfield).

I understand that the woofers can be matched easily with a SPL meter for equivalent output, but I am concerned about cancellation issues taking away from the music/HT experience.

Please chime in with experience, theory, or anything else you feel might help in such a situation.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

first you have to ask yourself why you're buying the extra sub

is if for more output?

if that is the case, then you should stack them or put them right next to each other and that will give you an extra 6db output

There are so many issues with non matched speakers (including subwoofers) that you're generally better off using the better one up front.

By the way, co locating is defined as having both subs at the same location.
