I wouldn't worry about supplies of the game itself on Tuesday. This is a much different beast from a console launch - those dvds are easy and cheap to press out large quantities. I remember that for Halo 2, I didn't pre-order, just walked into a Best Buy when it opened at 10A. And there was a separate area where they funnelled through the Halo purchasers. It was busy, lots of people walking through, but there wasn't like a wait in line or anything like that. Since I had no Halo 2 supply problems, I doubt there'll be Halo 3 problems - while Halo 3 will in general be more popular than Halo 2 was, at the present time the 360 console base is smaller than XBOX was at Halo 2 launch.

Anyways, I bought a console yesterday at a Best Buy, just to ensure I don't run into any issues there, and I asked about a special Halo 3 sale time on Tuesday. They said they didn't have any. So definitely call.

Wow...I can't believe how few Best Buy's are actually going to be open to midnight. This is a pretty small population for the total amount of Best Buy stores.

I think this may be Best Buy's first midnight launch for a game, they've done it for consoles... regardless, I don't think you will have an issue getting a copy on day 1... I only pre-ordered two weeks ago, I was #398, I think at GS and they said they would have plenty walk ins ready for that day.

Last night while I was returning a movie I stopped into the Game Crazy section of the video store. I asked if I could put money down for a copy of Halo 3 and they said that they were done taking pre-orders and already had all of their copies spoken for.

I then asked if i'd have any luck going to a big store like Best Buy. Some uber-nerd who was talkin shop with the game store employees then explained to me that the best buy near me (who is doing a midnight launch) already took more pre-orders than copies they're going to have available.

Is this true? I thought best buy was one of the stores that doesnt do pre-orders?

Best Buy has been taking pre-orders on H3 for a long time now so it might be true but I think many people like to jump the gun here and claim it is already sold out (when there will probably be plenty of copies out there) . What you described for GameCrazy is normal practice for them , they always cut off pre-orders within a pre-determined window of the games launch (based upon my several years of buying from them) .

For those of you who live near a EbGames/Gamestop, you can still pre-order. I don't know it if varies by location, but my Gamestop is guaranteeing all pre-orders. If you preorder and they don't have a game for you on the 25th, the game is free. And most will be open at midnight.

I dont know if its true for all, but if you preordered at Gamestops they told me just make sure the pre-order is paid off in full by Monday if you plan on getting it monday night/tuesday morning.

When I went into walmart yesterday to pick up superman: doomsday, I noticed there was a sign in the gaming section for halo 3. One thing to note is that the printed sign said there would be more than enough copies. so if I were you guys, I'd head to my local wally mart and pick up the game.

I don't think anyone will have a problem finding a copy on release day. I've been to a few Targets, and they already have the SKU stickers up for Halo 3 just waiting to be filled up.

The local Gamestop employee told me that some stores near Boston have had over 1500 pre-orders. Another local Gamestop has had 800 pre-orders. And I'm pretty sure that all of them are open at midnight. Talk about a circus.

I preordered the Limited edition a couple of weeks ago. I wavered on the Legendary, but in the end, I just could not justify it im my mind.

I remember the local gamestop on Halo 2's opening day. They had boxes up to the ceiling with the game in back. The huge line in the store was mostly preorders, but they were selling the game to everyone without preorders as well.

Technically it's 12:00:01am :). 12:00:00 is simply "midnight" of the current day. Just as 12:00:00 in the afternoon is just "noon" or "midday". It's neither post or ante-meridian.

Though computer systems incorrectly render midnight as 12:00:00am.

I live in Ridgewood, Queens. I have the L train which could take to to Union Square and the M train to Noho for BB. Locally right around my block of residence, I have a 7-Eleven, Gamestop, FYE, RadioShack. I need to find out how many copies 7-Eleven will have later when I get home from work. I have a Bestbuy card so thats where I'd like to get it. As of now, its looking like I'm going to Noho (Broadway & Houston) Bestbuy.

The closest BB to me would be in Rego Park on Queens Blvd but they aren't doing the midnight launch. I work on Chrystie and Houston so I'm not to far away from Noho BB. I just don't really want to wait till 12am after work ya know. I'll probably go home, have dinner and come back into the city around 9:30 - 10. I just hope the line isn't long when I get there, lol!

Checked in to Gamestop today to pre-order the limited edition, and they were a bunch of tools. It came down to they are only taking pre-orders on the standard edition and are only letting people in at midnight that have pre-orders. I left by letting them know that I'll just take my chances at getting a copy at Walmart.

It does suck that GS is 5 minutes away and Walmart is 20.

i went to my local 7-Eleven up the block from me and they said that they won't have any because no one pre-ordered any games from them so they won't have any. I was under the impression that at least they would have a few copies for sale. Apparently, thats not the case over here by me.

The CVS Pharmacy near me is selling the regular and collecter editions.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if its been done that Microsoft has made so many copies of Halo 3 that you can buy it almost anywhere, anytime and the supply will not run out anytime soon. No more Ebay auctions, no buyers trying to re-sell to those waiting in lines!

I'm willing to bet that there will be AT LEAST a good 100 people if not more there so you take the chance of being in that mayhem......or you can show up there 4 hours early (or more) and be one of the first to get the game at midnight, lol.

When Halo 2 launched I lined up at EB at 8pm, in the prepaid line. I think there was about 20 people ahead of me at the time. This was in a very busy shopping are though. I plan on hitting Wal Mart at around 10pm tonite and hoping to get one of their 11 Halo 3 dog tags:D

As far as any deals on the game itself there are none out there at any of the major stores. Their is only giveaways to go with the game. I know there is a coupon on-line you can print out for Best Buy of $10 off any $75 or more purchase so that would only save you $5 on each game. Check out cheapassgamers website for a good breakdown of all the deals.

I just pre-ordered it through best buy to take advantage of the 1600 live points for $5 instead of $20. available at that price with pre-order only. it won't be shipped to my door until like next week. in-store pick-up was not available. so i'll go there tomorrow to purchase it out-right and when the shipped one comes in, i'll just return it.

Ya I am getting it from Lionsgame as well, hopefuly by friday. If I am awake and bored, i might take a spin tonight (top down, boy the weather is just gorgeous here), and check out the fun, as Walmart, Target, BB, and gamestop are literally a stone throw from each other. Wow just came back from downtown and the best buy on 44th and 5th is crazy. There was a line already at 6 and when i came back past it it was even more crowded and the tv crews were out there. They were having a halo tourney. It was a big deal out there. Oh well i been had my copy wish i had a few more that i could sold to some people out there but i had forgot it was halo eve.

Our local Walmart in Wasilla Alaska just north of Anchorage had about 300 copies including 22 Legendary Editions, I went ahead after saying I wasn't going to fall for the hype go out and wait in line, it only took two hours with less than 200 people waiting, but I now have my game and the helmet!

I ended up falling asleep on my couch watching Heros last night and woke up around 11pm. I was way too tired to go to the city and pick up a Limited edition copy so I opted to stay home and pick up a copy this afternoon during my lunch break. Was at the Butterfield Best Buy in Illinois, they had a chick there passing out GTA4 shirts. Got a white and a black one as well. She was trying to get rid of her supply so they could get out of there. Also 2 GTA4 posters that look pretty nice as well. In the store got the shirt. They were only giving you a choice of the shirt or the hat at this store. They only had 25 chairs and it was for the first 25 people, did not have to buy a specific edition. Missed it by about 6 people. I had gotten there at about 10:15. They had 30 of the legendary and after I had left there were probably about 10 left, considering there were about 200 people there they were SOLD OUT for sure of those.
Overall they handled everything pretty well.

What is the difference between collectors and normal? Is it worth another 10$. I got the bestbuy coupon and am going to get two copies (knock on wood) today. I can't wait for tonight. I love the specious guide that came with the collectors’ edition. That and the Bonus DVD and tin case made it well worth the $75 dollars after tax.

I made the mistake of going to Gamecrazy last night around 11:30pm to pick up my reserved copy. Walked in and found that they where handing out numbers. I swam through a wave of stinky, loud, teens and got number 44. Waited in my car until I started seeing people leave. Went back in and waited for a very long 30 minutes until I realized that they where only on #11. The line was moving extremely slow. I said to myself screw this I don’t care if I already have money down I will use it for another game. Went into my local Wal-Mart that was on the way home and found no line, had the game in 5 minutes. No waiting and got my set of dog tags. By 12:39 I was playing The dog tags are alright, my only real complaint is that at the bottom they are engraved with the Wal-Mart Logo. I do not advertise for Wal-Mart
