Mike LS 09-20-07, 04:54 PM ^^ 18" or so usually. Anthony1 09-20-07, 06:30 PM I wonder if that Samsung is any good? It's the 50" 720p set to get it at that price. Model # is HLT5075S . You could buy all that, put the Xbox 360 on Ebizzle, sell Top Spin and the other game, and sell Halo 3, and you would have a pretty damn good HDTV for $800 out the door. JonDotCom 09-20-07, 06:45 PM I have two samsung dlps. I'm fairly happy with the service so far, and they come with 1 year in-home warranty! Daekwan 09-20-07, 06:51 PM If I wasnt such a plasma hog I'd probably spring for this.. ileff 09-20-07, 07:12 PM I have a 61" 1080P Sammy and I love it. Only feature I wish it had is 120Hz/24p support. I would get the HLT6176S for $2,159.99, but then the $410 savings isn't that big of a percentage anymore... ;) For those looking for a deal the HLT5075S is the way to go. The only place it would fall a bit short is HD-DVD. HeadRusch 09-20-07, 07:25 PM That is a pretty crazy deal, actually...you're getting the 50" set for something like $400 bucks. TigerDirect was selling Toshiba DLP's a few weeks back, 56" for $799 or $899 I think...but if you read up on that model, there was a bulb flaw that Toshiba was having to replace all the bulbs, and the bulbs were backordered now until god knows when. bkchurch 09-20-07, 07:48 PM Wow, this sucks. If I hadn't bought a 360 on Tuesday my 37" LCD would be going back to the store and this would be moving into the dorm but now it's not really cost effective. Hmm, unless I return my TV for $800, do this deal and sell the 360 and Halo 3 on eBay new for something like $440 then I'd technically be saving money... I may try this. Edit: Nm they have the Limited Edition Halo 3 as part of that offer, I could just cancel my Amazon pre-order and keep the copy of Halo 3. jasonstiller 09-20-07, 08:00 PM Damn that would make a great extra room setup! How do I convince the wife ha ha bkchurch 09-20-07, 09:09 PM Anybody know when this ends? I'm gonna have to act quick if this is gonna happen. 257Tony 09-20-07, 10:35 PM That is an incredible deal for an awesome gaming setup!! Talk about jumping in with both feet for people that are new to HD and HD gaming:) Edit: you forgot to add the $1200 Monster HDMI cable that you HAVE to buy to make it work ;) boblincoln 09-21-07, 12:50 AM I took the dive and bought mine. The 360 and Halo arrive the 25th and the TV the 26th. Now, is there any specific type of HDMI cable to get or should they all do the same for 720? Vicious1080 09-21-07, 01:03 AM I would strongly advise against any Samsung displays. I bought a sammy DLP one a year ago and have be very disappointed at the input lag and the banding issues. The banding issues have greatly improved with this years models, but the input lag is still there. I have tested just about every sammy DLP/LCD and have found input lag in them all. Game mode makes little difference, but the ones with a VGA input reduced lag considerably...although it was still detectable. Now, some of my friends called me crazy and said they didn't see it, and many people probably aren't even aware of it. Some people are just more sensitive to these kinds of thing I suppose. Lets just say there is a 50' HDTV in the living room with no gaming consoles attached. I usually go to CC and BB occasionaly to see if a HDTV will come out with no input lag, but each one I have tested has noticable lag. some LCDs usually have little lag, but stay far away from Samsung anything. Their displays seem to have the worst input lag. The new Sharp Aquios had very little lag... but again it is still detectable. Right now, I am using a 32' XBR970 I picked up at CC open box for 300 dollars and could not be happier. Some geometry issues, but not a bit of input lag I can detect. Dankir 09-21-07, 09:45 AM How come the mods let you post this, I posted a thread about a sick deal I got on my new 52" Samsung and he deleted the thread 'cuz it was full of "price talk and retail links" whiskey > work 09-21-07, 09:58 AM Hmmm. wow I'm really tempted here. One of my tv's just shat the bed. Problem is I already have a new projector and a 360 already, but the pj is for movies mostly. I need a new full time display. Let's say I buy this and want to dump the xbox brand new, would anyone here want it for a fair price? edit: just had a great thought about lan parties with the pj and this other huge tv. Jesus h christmas this is sick! vili 09-21-07, 10:17 AM I want a 360, how much are you wanting to sell it for? NYFOOTBALLGIANTS 09-21-07, 10:19 AM This is a great deal and I still think DLP's are by far the best value for the buck and the Samsungs are very good... the black level is nice and color reproduction solid... the only concerns are lighting and viewing angle... anyone looking for a new set and has the room for a DLP should be all over this... alpha21 09-21-07, 10:31 AM wow that's a pretty good deal!!! you can pick your DLP. I would go with the 61" LED. *EDIT - removed price talk* the 61" LED itself, is usually that much or more (depending on the store) Dead.Horse 09-21-07, 10:44 AM How come the mods let you post this, I posted a thread about a sick deal I got on my new 52" Samsung and he deleted the thread 'cuz it was full of "price talk and retail links" Shhhhhh, they might ban you for questioning their authority. bkchurch 09-21-07, 11:22 AM I would strongly advise against any Samsung displays. That's odd, I was under the impression as long as no scaling took place (in this case if you fed the TV 720p) then there wouldn't be any lag. If it's really that bad though I don't think I'll go for it. My 37" LCD has to scale everything since it's 1366x768 but I've still yet to notice any lag, I probably will when I start playing faster paced games I should fire up some Guitar Hero on it and see how it fares. Edit: Also since that TV your using is a CRT you should definitely be experiencing lag considering it scans at 853x1080 so any signal you send it is gonna have to be scaled. Vicious1080 09-21-07, 11:57 AM I find scaling is not what produces lag, and I can tell you now that my CRT has no perceivable lag. I am very sensitive to this kind of stuff. On the Sammys, I saw no difference in input lag on native 720p displays and native 1080p displays. To be honest, I played on my Sammy without noticing the lag for a month. After Call of Duty 2 multiplayer I decided something must be up since I shouldn't suck that bad. I test every possible setting/resolution setting before giving up on any of the TV's. A lot of people probably suck at FPS and don't realize a great part of it might have to do with the display. The difference between my sammy DLP and this CRT is night and day as far as input lag goes. Edit : I should say scaling does not produce much of a difference in lag unless you are feeding it a 480i signal via composite. HeadRusch 09-21-07, 12:02 PM A lot of people probably suck at FPS and don't realize a great part of it might have to do with the display. Welcome, citizen of CrazyTown! h3ro 09-21-07, 01:55 PM What is the general consensus on the HLT5075S 720p model? Low023 09-21-07, 02:53 PM I just pulled the trigger on this deal as well, I already have the 61" LED DLP in my bedroom. This TV will go great with a PS3 and some Yamaha NS-777's. Gotta love Piano Black. Stryker412 09-21-07, 03:16 PM I don't see anything on that link for the MS points and NFL shop coupon. Where did that come into play? bkchurch 09-21-07, 03:23 PM I don't see anything on that link for the MS points and NFL shop coupon. Where did that come into play? There's another offer that if you buy Halo 3 you get 1600 MS points for $5.00, just add a 1600 point card to your cart and it should automatically drop the price. Anyway I've decided to stick with my LCD so I'm not gonna jump on this however I did cancel my Amazon pre-order and pre-ordered through Best Buy to get the MS points, in the end the price was the same and Halo 3 is going to arrive a day later (the 28th as opposed to the 27th), not bad. ileff 09-21-07, 03:24 PM You have to add the points card to your cart manually, it will come up as $5 instead of $20. http://product.samsung.com/hd/nfl.html Stryker412 09-21-07, 03:40 PM Got it, thanks. Anthony1 09-21-07, 05:28 PM I have two questions 1. When does this deal expire? (I'm trying to sell my current TV on craigslist, to be able to finance this deal. I'm not going to go with this deal, unless I can sell my current TV first) 2. Regarding the Xbox 360 systems, does the Top Spin one have a HDMi plug on it? Or is that the catch? You get the Top Spin one, and you don't get HDMI, and you get the one without Top Spin, and you get the HDMI. Cause if the Top Spin one has HDMI, then might as well get that one....right? Vicious1080 09-22-07, 04:07 PM Welcome, citizen of CrazyTown! I'm actually in the real world. Are you arguing that input lag does not decrease one's performance in a FPS? Figuring my scores doubled in CoD2 going from my DLP to my CRT, I would say there is a definite difference. HeadRusch 09-22-07, 04:17 PM I'm actually in the real world. Are you arguing that input lag does not decrease one's performance in a FPS? Figuring my scores doubled in CoD2 going from my DLP to my CRT, I would say there is a definite difference. Now, I'm just saying if your scores doubled from switching technologies, you must have had the worst DLP on earth with whole second+ lagging introduced by the processing of the set, which isn't the norm. Or, you simply got better at the game. I've seen some sets introduce some control delay, but it was so minute as to be almost imperceivable.....I find it particularly annoying, however, when people talk about it like its a huge defecit in their "mad gaming skillz" and then go on to talk about some console shooter that is capped at 30fps anyhow, where the crispness of control refreshes come into play (I don't mean you, by the way). I just have a problem with people talking about LAG like its this huge issue with digital sets, in most cases its almost inperceivable if there is any delay at all. I have never experienced any lag on my LCD flatpanels, DLP projectors or of course the CRT sets. INOALL 09-22-07, 05:23 PM When i click on the deal it doesnt ring up to that amount. Its alot more. DLPORLCD 09-22-07, 05:32 PM When i click on the deal it doesnt ring up to that amount. Its alot more. Thats because the 50" 720p sammy is not on the list for the deal anymore. I have never experienced any lag on my LCD flatpanels, DLP projectors or of course the CRT sets. Just from personal experience there is a big difference. The biggest difference I noticed was targeting herbs in Oblivion and moving the map around. Perhaps my map moving and herb picking skills increased? To be honest, I did not notice my display had input lag for the first month. I just felt like the controls felt a little unresponsive and I read that some displays suffer from "input lag". So I plugged it into my old CRT and noticed a huge difference. From then on, my 50' has not had a single game played on it. Anthony1 09-23-07, 11:22 AM Wow. And the dream is dead. Lucky thing I didn't end up selling my current TV, cause I could have easily sold it, then hopped on my computer, and then found out that this deal was dead. That would have really sucked. Best Buy does have a deal in their Sunday ad, but it's much worse. You get the same 50" TV, and a Xbox 360, but no Halo 3, and you end up paying more as well. It's $1199.98 before tax. For me, that would end up to be $1292.98. The other deal, would have been $1172.28, and would have included Halo 3 as well. Therefore, if you go with the in-store deal, you are paying an extra $120.70, plus you aren't getting Halo 3. That's like a $200 difference, and a total deal breaker in my opinion. I just deleted my craigslist ad for my TV. I had alot of people calling too, and would have probably sold it early today. whiskey > work 09-23-07, 12:58 PM Wow. And the dream is dead. I saw this deal over on slickdeals.net and managed to get the TV and Xbox for $850. you just need to be a little creative and talk them into giving you a badass deal. if you find the thread over on slickdeals.net you will find that someone posted a copy of a BB recipt from 9/20 where they got the same deal I got. I figured I may sell the Xbox and I will have this TV for under $500. If you find the recipt I mentioned they will not match the deal because the cost on the TV is around 850 and they have no reason to sell it to you for wayyy under cost. they may do it if you buy one of those $3000 Bose systems though. You can allways go back and return the Bose system and keep the killer deal on the TV. |
