Hey all. Long time PC gamer gone console here. Can someone tell me if most of the FPS games on the 360 allow you to reverse the Y axis on the "look" control. Years of flight simming have me unable to get the hang of pushing the stick up to make my view go skyward.
I ask because I've tried the demos of both Bioshock and MOH Airborne and the demos don't seem to allow me to reverse the axis. Consequently, I end up making myself nauseous as I run around the maps with my head swimming up and down trying to compensate for my impulse to pull back on the stick to make my head go up and vice versa.
I'm pretty set on getting Bioshock (big system shock and thief fan here) and Halo3 but if I can't switch the y-axis around, I might have to stick to racing games on my console. My 40 year old brain is slow to adapt I'm afraid. Sad, I know.
I just want to be sure of what I'm getting into before I plunk down hard earned cash on a too many full blown games.
Thank you in advance.

Evey shooter I have ever played has the ability to invert y, including MOH:Airborne and Bioshock. You must be looking in the wrong places. There is also a cool feature you can use in customizing your profile. Just select your profile from the 360 dashboard and go into the settings, you can set the default look to be inverted, so anytime you pop in a new shooter it will already be switched for you. You can also set your default look sensitivity to low, med or high.

I can tell you Bioshock does have the option to invert the Y axis.
Coming from PC gaming and flight sims, I had the same problem as you do. I converted myself via alot of game time to the "normal". Plus you wont have to worry if a game will have that option or not. Most do, but you need to do research before you buy.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'll definitely check out the profiles setting but I dunno if I'll ever be able to convert myself to "normal". At least not without losing my lunch. :o

"normal" is inverted. when u push the "stick" in a plane forward its nose goes down and when u pull it, its nose goes up. same thing with cars that are driven by "sticks." when u push it forward, the car goes forward. when u pull it it goes backward.

Both these demos have the option. Don't ask me where since my 360 is currently RROD'd.
I have never seen a FPS (at least for the last 10 years or so) that hasn't allowed you to invert the axis. There might be a couple floating around out there, but I haven't played any.

I guess I just didn't see it or look hard enough. I'll look a little closer this weekend.
Thanks!
Also, in the system settings there is an option to invert it by default so every game inverts the axis.
In the Xbox Dashboard, select your Gamercard, then select Game Defaults:
General: Difficulty, Primary Color, Secondary Color, Controller Sensitivity
Action: Y-Axis, Movement, Auto-Aim, Auto-Center
Racing: Transmission, Camera Angle, Brake Control, Accelerator Control

Funny, I've always been an "invert" guy when using a mouse on a PC FPS. But for the life of me, I can't use invert on the 360. I have no idea why. Maybe my brain is just wired wrong. :)
