I ordered from newegg back on 18th with overnight shipping and even though it says it has shipped it has not. The FedEx tracking number they gave me only says "electronic data submitted to FedEx". Newegg is not shipping the orders until they think the shipping time will coincide with the release date 9-25...sucks... :(

As far as I know, the 25th applies to shipping as well. Meaning, if you pre-order the game shouldn't ship until the official release date or it should not arrive until the 25th. I think. :confused:

On the other hand, if any of you get the game early, good for you!! Let us know what you think.

Some people will no doubt get it early by a day or so. But just realize that some delivery companies are known to hold packages until the "due by" date. I've known, UPS I think it was, would keep a package held up several days until it was scheduled to arrive.

I walked by my local game store Game Centre in Toronto on lunch and they were receiving skids of Halo 3 copies packed in brown cardboard boxes. Each skid had a sheet of paper saying not to be sold until the 25th. Half the boxes said "Helmet - 2 pieces" for the deluxe edition.

So, I can't speak for everyone else, but Toronto has it. Whether the stores are selling it remains to be seen. I just started Bioshock, so I'm in no rush.

Just called a local store that will be retailing Halo 3, and the girl that I talked to was self-proclaimed "queen of Halo" - she said she had gotten the shipment in yesterday, and a few of the employees had managed to take their copies home to play.

She said it rocked and fully recommended buying it. I still haven't gotten a 360, but think I'll buy the Halo version of it with the HDMI output, and get the Halo game at the same time.

Not a good month for my checking account... or my sleep. Oh well, life is all about sacrifice...

just because you got a tracking number doesn't mean it's en route... just that they've labelled your shipment.

Nope...she said they wouldn't sell it, but said that the employees were able to take their copies home. I don't think it was a completely over-the-counter move, but heck, if I were one of the employees, I wouldn't be pushing the DVD back to them saying, "um...lets wait until Tuesday." ;)

some stores are actually dreading halo3. Yup, it'll make money, but the employees have to work crazy hours to deal with it. Overtime pay for your employees, and a tired staff to boot. If a store gets in in 200 copies, they are only going to sell 200 anyways. 200 sales during normal hours gets them full profit. 200 sales during overtime hours gets them less profit. WE know that most places are going to go nuts selling at midnight. As far as I am concerned, the stores brought this all on to themselves. Just wait till 8am on the 25th to sell that blockbuster game.

Many stores already have the game. The point is what stores are already selling it. :)

Games always arrive 3-4 days before the actual release date. This is common practice. Otherwise, it would be a shipping and retail logistical nightmare if they waited until the day of or the day before the release date. Yikes.

Just got my e-mail from best buy as well! Man, this is cool. I was expecting bestbuy to wait untill the day it came out to ship and get it fridaydayish so I would not play it before my test next week.... Well, opps.

People are far to impatient, just wait it out it's not like they're gonna run outta copies. I have to wait till the 28th for my copy to arrive and when it does I have to drive two hours to go home and pick it up, and I'm a hardcore Halo fan I've read all the books, the graphic novel, and the comic but I can wait. I still have to finish Bioshock and if I finish it before I have Halo 3 I'm just gonna play Bioshock again. Patience young grasshopper, the time to frag will come but you must let the noobs come to you, do not come to the noobs.

I used to get hyped for game launches but seriously. Once you have it; its no longer a big deal at all.

If it takes a few extra days even to get a copy or a week so be it. Im thinking that GOW will be available used for cheap after Halo3 comes out. I haven't played GOW yet so it'll be brand new to me, only it will cost me $20.

There is something in it for them: Possible future purchases from the purchaser. Somebody who got it early from "store X" might be more likely to frequent that store in the future. Not sure it's worth it for the store -- if the fines/ban/suspension part is even true -- but that's an analysis they would have to make.

Stores here had it since mon. that's how peeps I know got it. Rhino crew dont care and Walmart is so easy to get anything from, if ya know the right peeps of course.

It sounds like a significant number of the collector's editions if not a majority have the disc loose inside the case because of poor design on the holder so the disc is all scratched up. Probably best if you open it before you leave the store to make sure.
