Call me crazy, but I don't understand why so many people are ordering the Halo: LE. The thing costs $130, more than twice the cost of the game alone! What do you get for your money? Some making of DVDs, an art book, and a crummy plastic helmet? I understand spending an extra $10 on a collectors edition of a game, or MAYBE even $20 to get a $1.50 made in china helmet, but an extra $70!?!?!?!?

Am I crazy? Am I completely missing something here? Does the LE come with a copy of Halo 4? Am I just to cheap? It seems the LE is selling out pre-orders everywhere and I, for th life of me, can't figure out why.

This is a super sensitive subject around here, as Halo fans are a rabid bunch.

I don't understand it either. I'm not even thinking about getting it. I think the helmet looks cheap, the dvds stupid, and the price outrageous. That said, I've spent quite a bit of money on items that I'm sure others find ludicrous. We're all stupid when it comes to certain things. Some things will never be understood. Someone spent 9000+ on a WoW character! A fool and his money...

A game like Halo 3 doesn't come out very often. That's why I'm picking up the L.E.

People collect $100+ comics and action figures, so take it as that.

This thing isn't a collectors item. it won't hold its value like one would expect a 100 comic book to hold value. Look at halo 2 LE prices. they are pretty much on par with H2 non LE prices.

It is a collector's item. That is the reason why I would buy it, but I cant because it is already sold out in my area.

There is no right or wrong reason. Its simply individual desire to own, purchase and enjoy something.

I'm sure you have 100's of things in your home, I wouldnt dare purchase because I find them overpriced. And I'm sure the same goes for many things I own.

In all seriousness.. I'm actually about to hop in the shower.. head to NYC.. pay $100 for a steak dinner at some fancy restaurant and then go spend another $100 at the bar in some club.

And I'm sure while I'm out enjoying those things I very much look forward to purchasing with my own hard earned money.. at that very moment somewhere.. somebody.. is at home sitting at their computer, eating their $1 menu fastfood burger.. drinking their 50 cent domestic beer.. starting a thread about why in the world would someone would pay so much money just to eat beef and get drunk.

Funny you say that, because I consider myself a Halo fan for sure and there's no ****in' way I'd ever spend $130 to get the game plus a plastic helmet, a comic, and some making of ****! I don't even bother with special editions let alone 'legendary' and what not. It's the GAME I'm crazy about and will be buying. Plus, if you're serious about having it, I'm sure there will be an absolute glut of halo helmets on eBay in the weeks and months following release....and they sure won't be going for $50.

Wow, I didn't realize it comes with the Limited Edition in the helmet, I thought it came with the regular edition then the other DVD's in another plastic case. I wonder if it's too late to cancel my order now that I've already collected my $5 1600 MS point card at BB?

Damn, BB only lets you cancel within an hour of ordering. Hmm good thing I don't care all that much about the helmet or the second disc.

I kinda want the calibration disc and the HALO mini-game in the collector's edition. But, I forgot to ask for that version when I pre-ordered. But, if you all tell me it's not that important, that might put me at ease.:(

You could always just pick up a copy of Avia, probably the greatest calibration DVD ever. They just updated it on Blu-Ray and HD DVD as well if you have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player. Dunno anything about the minigame, I bought the Limited Edition for the slick metal case, the artbook, and the calibration disc since I'm to cheap to buy Avia.
