I have read online that the Knocked Up Pic quality and sound are not that good . I also heard that sound is basically just front speakers 2.0. I think I maight save myself 10 dollars and get the SD DVD 2 Disc Unrated Edition and just upconverted with my HD Player. I can save that on the other Fall HD titles like Transformers, Talk 2 Me, Shrek, Bourne Ultimateium, Oceans 13, Old School, there are a lot of good HD titles that I can spend my money on this fall.

I personally am going to get the HD DVD. There's a pretty positive review for it up an High def digest. And I'm almost 99% sure that it has all the special features of the regular dvd. Regular DVDs have started to kind of make my eyes hurt lol. But its up to you! You sound pretty certain of what you want to do though.

What about the movie itself? It doesn't sound like anything I'd be interested in, HD or not. Anyone have an opinion on whether it's worth watching?

If you enjoyed 40 Year Old Virgin, you will most definitely like this. Saw it twice in the theaters and it was just as funny the second time.

Yeah it was a really funny movie. Stands up to multiple viewings in my opinion. When I saw it in the theater there would be some lines that I couldn't even here because the audience would be laughing so hard from a previous line.

And yes I'm pretty sure the hd dvd is the Unrated cut as well.

This movie was hilarious. You have to have an open mind to enjoy the movie. As far as getting the HD DVD version, I am not sure considering it has yet to be released. However, some people on this forum sometimes seem to tend to stay away from buying comedy HD DVD's and save their money for action films on HD DVD. Some people don't care too much from HD DVD vs. DVD for comedy movies.

I think you are forgetting the main point that it is just a movie. I dont think anybody should be seeing Knocked Up and expecting it to be accurate in telling us how to go about our relationships and parenting.

Watching SD on your Dish is one thing. However, upconverted DVD's on a Toshiba player (e.g. my A20) probably look better than HD-lite from your satellite provider.

Like myself. Good movie, but after the last few comedies I have bought on HD, I think I'll save some money and the get SD version. Wal-mart tends to have new releases around $15 the first week. That'd be about half the HD price.

I went to this movie with my girlfriend and we laughed from start to finish.
After watching movies like Spiderman 3 and other disapointing sequels, I was so impressed the with the quality of this movie.

Oh yeah. We have to support great movies like this when they come to HD-DVD.

Of course this one looks great, its a solid title and very much a great improvement over the dvd. This one was a no brainer for me. Of course you do get the regular dvd with it. And like Mammoth said it's important to support this great releases.

It's been confirmed, this hd-dvd lacks all of the extras from the second disc of the Unrated DVD release. Thats a lot of stuff, and its probably insanely funny, seeing as how great the 40-year Old Virgin dvd was so great. It does add 1080p picture, slightly better sound, and PiP, but it carries a notably higher price tag and lacks some good stuff.

I think I'm just gonna go DVD on this one. It's only a comedy and it'll still look acceptible upconverted.

Definite buy on HD, there's no way I can go back to SD DVD's anymore especially with a great/big release like this. As far as audio I think people are just knocking down there scores because it has no TrueHD or considered lossless audio. Which I feel has no meaning because when I viewed this in the theater this was a FRONT HEAVY movie throughout, thats just they way the movie sounds.

I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that no one has brought up the absolute delight that the birthing scene is sure to offer those of us that purchase it in HD. Trying not to spoil anything, but I think SD may be the way to go solely based on that moment. You know which one.

I for one consider rottentomatoes to be fairly accurate with my tastes at least. If user review is 70% or higher I have almost always enjoyed the movie. The critic review means nothing to me because all the movies they like are boring as hell and horrible to watch.

If you are going for the movie and don't mind the extras too much, then the HD DVD version is a no brainer.

If you want the extra features (as I do on any Apatow production), then go with the 2-Disc SD DVD version. The extras on this disc are worth the price alone.
