I've come to the conclusion after reading AVS that the sweet spot for the best flat panel right now is a 50" 720p plasma.

I don't need 1080p because the resolution is too low for computer use and bluray/hddvd probably won't become predominant at least for another year or two.

AVS consensus is that plasma is still better than LCD for PQ.

I've been comparison shopping and it appears the following are the best in class for a $1500 plasma.

Panasonic TH-50PX75U - Frys $1299
LG 50PC5D - Frys $1499
SAMSUNG HPT5054 - Frys $1399
SAMSUNG HPT5064 - Frys $1599

Your poll might do better in the plasma area.
