I've seen this topic batted around and it seems that expensive HDMI cables are just not worth the price. I'd like to know if that holds true for a longer distance cable. I have been quoted a 10 meter Kimber hdmi at just over three bills. I do want to insure I have enough cable to move 1080p deep color over that distance. Is this worth it or can a decent 10 meter set from monoprice or bluejeans perform just as well?
Kimber doesn't even advertise that their cables are 1,3a / 1080p / high bitrate compliant. You'd think they would at least mention it on their website. Either their cables don't fill the bill or their marketing folks are asleep at the switch.

I wouldn't bother paying that much for Kimber. BlueJeans makes cables that are 1.3a compliant for longer distances and are much cheaper.

Rik,

I use Kimber cables in both my primary and secondary systems. I have a large number of digital video sources and thus have numerous Kimber HDMI, DVI and HDV cables. In terms of lengths, I use everything from 0.5m upto 10m with the highest number of cables being in the 1.5-2.0m range. The 10m cable is an HDV cable (terminated DVI on one end and HDMI on the other). It is imbedded into a wall and is the main video pathway to my display (Runco 65" plasma). My display has a native resolution of 1080p and the 10m cable has no problems transferring an excellent image at all resolutions from 576p all the way to 1080p at 24 frames per second.

You will not find a more helpful bunch of people than the guys that work over at Kimber. They are always happy to talk to people like us and I have received fantastic help and advise from them even though in many instances it has resulted in them pushing a cheaper cable than the one I was willing to buy.

Thanks for your help. The worry I have is the cable's ability to push deep color and other high bitrate HDMI 1.3 material - not yet available. While all of the players are making statements on the websites and in their literature that they are 1.3 compliant, Kimber seems to be remaining silent. Not a peep on their site. You'd think they would want to mention it.
