View Full Version : Yoo Hoo... Lionsgate... Where Are You?
AaronSCH 09-22-07, 08:37 PM While updating the cover art thread I realized there is absolutely nothing to post in the way of new releases from Lionsgate. Does the lion sleep tonight? They had earlier announced the following titles that have yet to receive release dates:
* THE DEAD ZONE (TV series)
* REQUIEM FOR A DREAM
* PI
* CABIN FEVER
* MONSTER'S BALL
* DUNE (Miniseries)
lilstinky 09-22-07, 09:37 PM I'd love to get my hands on a Blu Monster's Ball. Not really a movie that screams for the HD treatment but I'd still spend the scratch because I love the movie.
Wendell R. Breland 09-22-07, 09:44 PM I'd love to get my hands on a Blu Monster's Ball.That kind of talk is against AVS rules :D.
zzzozzzo 09-22-07, 10:08 PM * PI
Now that's one to add to my list. :)
Is this a Blu-Ray exclusive company or is this coming out on HD DVD as well?
That kind of talk is against AVS rules :D.
hehe! thats my new sig, classic!
Sometimes the format war gives you a good laugh.
charles0424 09-22-07, 10:21 PM One movie that I would really want to see on Blu-Ray though probably wouldn't be a big upgrade over the SD version is The Blair Witch Project.

I've always had problems projecting my personal problems in these threads.:rolleyes:

Hey that's copyright infringement! You will need to send me a Blu-Ray everytime you post or I'll sue.
GizmoDVD 09-22-07, 10:34 PM Ive been waiting for The Dead Zone for a while now as well. Wasn't that one of their first announcements?
Of hand I don't know of many films owned by Lionsgate but I would be thrilled if they reissued Stargate with a decent transfer with proper subs for the alien speaking scenes. The current disc looks like crap IMO. So bad in fact that I sold the disc off even though I love the movie.

Ok, your copy of the original Fifth Element on the way:p
depooter 09-22-07, 11:56 PM how about

Dr Kain 09-23-07, 12:23 AM Saw III Director's Cut comes out the Tues before IV hits theaters. Any idea if the Unrated version of the first one is coming out then?
wakashizuma 09-23-07, 12:40 AM How about Rambo II and Rambo III?
The fourth Rambo is coming out this January and it is time to release some Rambo flicks. I imported Rambo II on HD DVD but since the releases are bare-bones with no extra I'm waiting for the North American Blu-ray versions.
+1 on Dune miniseries. It's only been "coming soon" since June '06!

I'd like Rambo 2 as well. I've thought about importing as well but if LG were to release this domestically and soon, I could save some dough.
TheCuze 09-23-07, 12:06 PM Here's hoping they bring us a Blu-Ray edition of 3:10 To Yuma later on. I just saw that flick last night, and it's quite badass.

Too bad it is SD only. No Blu version in sight.:(

Indeed, they'd better go all out on that one. Best movie of the year so far.
freebird2003 09-23-07, 07:25 PM Will Liongate release T2 again in the longer version??
Any news??
Juz Can't Wait
Thanks
freebird2003 09-23-07, 08:48 PM also adding from above, i feel that liongate are not giveing their best when releasing in blu-ray format.
Thanks
b.ramos 09-23-07, 09:27 PM T2 the longer version is available on HD-DVD from France. As for why nothing from Lionsgate I'd say it's the same reason that Weinstein has nothing announced for HD-DVD either. This is the season for the big boys to make money and most of what the smaller studios have to offer can't compete with the likes of Transformers and Spiderman 3.
A great movie to be re-released and put on Blu-Ray would be the Puppet Master series. I have the OOP dvd set and it would be a good way for the movies to come back out.

Don't hold your breath. Paramount own some of the movies (the box set was pulled quite fast because of this) but they won't release any Full Moon movies. Full Moon themselves may never release any HD, as they can't afford it.
