View Full Version : Any chance of Fight Club coming to HD DVD?
I've never imported an HD DVD, so I'm not familiar with who publishes what on which format, but here's the list of the distributors for the movie: http://imdb.com/title/tt0137523/companycredits
Do any of them release movies in HD DVD? This is one movie I'd definitely import.
OggideM 09-22-07, 11:11 PM i believe medusa italy publishes via hd-dvd
I've been very happy with the quality of the import HD titles i've purchased so far; some of the best titles in my collection.
pulserate 09-23-07, 09:45 AM Not in the US. It's a FOX movie, which means it will be released on Blu-Ray...eventually.
Personally, I wouldn't expect it until 2009, where they'll probably be looking at doing a 10th anniversary edition.

HA
This is Fox we're talking about. Do you think they really care about SE's on BD??? They can barely figure out how to put a trailer on their discs.
I think that is the OP's point, that in order to get it for HD it would need to be import since it would be released by Fox here in the US.

I know it's not going to happen in the US, which is why I was asking if any of the foreign distributors might put it on HD DVD.
1080please 09-23-07, 11:11 AM Fox is too busy right now... sshhh *cough* BD+
They'll worry about the customers enjoyment in the value of their purchase after their BD+ is an success for them .. hmmmm *cough* NEVER lol
Fox has been dragging there feet for so long I think it has to do with more then just BD+. The first 5 months of BR being on the market, they didnt release anything. And now has gone another 7 months without releases. Even with actually releasing during that time, they should have a ton of movies encoded and ready to go.
One of the recent imports I got was Mr & Mrs Smith which I must admit had an awesome picture quality to it.
pulserate 09-23-07, 12:14 PM All fair points, to be sure.
But FOX generally drags its feet on all of the formats, then turns around and delivers some stunning stuff once they're forced to tow the line.
The original Fight Club DVD is still considered a turning point in the evolution of the format. I know, for myself, that DVD blew me away in terms of what they could do with their content. I would still rank it in the Top 20 DVDs ever produced.
And then you need to take into account brilliant sets like the Alien Quadrilogy and The Planet Of The Apes Collection.
FOX is the shy guy at the party. You just need to liquor him up, and he'll perform 'puppetry of the penis' tricks that go on to live in infamy.
DigitalfreakNYC 09-23-07, 02:47 PM If you loved the R1 Fight Club, you haven't experienced ANYTHING until you've heard the R3 DTS/DD tracks. That blows the R1 far and away.
I don't think anyone ever noticed how incredibly compressed the R1 was unless they looked at the rate.
Fox should be the shy guy that gets his a$$ kicked at the party for promising to bring the beer and then showing up late without it...

Thanks for the info, I'll look for it.
Once you DVR a cable movie, is there anyway to transfer to a PC?
mrkrispy 09-24-07, 12:21 PM the first release had sooooo much content I can't even think what new content they could find for a 10th anniv. release - i would be suprised if it isnt' just new packaging. Still, HD would be great
