Thanks, Tom JimP 09-23-07, 04:56 AM Under JL Audio's current business plan, you are not suppose to be able to buy a new one from a dealer online. In time, you will probably be able to find a used one on ebay or audiogon/videogon. That being said, it might be good to read the last few pages of Craigsub's thread and see what else is out there that ranks high and cost a lot less Tom899 09-23-07, 04:46 PM Under JL Audio's current business plan, you are not suppose to be able to buy a new one from a dealer online. I've really enjoyed everyone’s posts. I think I have a sub narrowed down to either a JL f113, SVS PB13-Ultra, HSU VTF-3 MK3, or Outlaw LFM-1 EX, I know, not very narrowed down. What really attracted me to the JL f113 at first was its physical size, then I started reading reviews and they seem really positive. But, I'm having a hard time with the price. In the end I will probably end up with an SVS or HSU. NOW I'm looking at two Epic Valor's! I guess I don't know what I want? Well, I do but it cost too much. Thanks! But, I'm having a hard time with the price. Me too. And me too. :) That being said, it might be good to read the last few pages of Craigsub's thread and see what else is out there that ranks high and cost a lot less Bingo. Other smaller subs are now out and more are coming soon. It might pay to wait a bit if you want something smaller without paying JL's crazy price. That's what I'm doing. TheEAR 09-23-07, 10:41 PM JL's crazy price...the price of these subs is nothing crazy considering the level of built quality. (The competitors are not even in the same league, the quality of the amp, driver and the whole package). The only sub that matches the JL's overall built quality is the Aerial SW12. Crazy price relative to the average mans income with a family to feed. Rutgar 09-24-07, 09:56 PM Crazy price relative to the average mans income with a family to feed. No matter... you get what you pay for. And the 113 is one incredible sounding and performing sub. Not bloated, not boomy, just smooth low bass that kicks you in the chest when needed. And no, I don't have one. I have a Velodyne DD-18. However, that may change. spyboy 09-25-07, 10:25 AM Thanks! for the reply - yes, I've been reading all the forums I can in my spare time, and have read the whole Craigsub thread. Tom Hi Please do yourself a favor and get the top-of-the-line Outlaw, and the Velodyne SMS-1 for $999 while the sale is on. Mozvz 09-25-07, 11:28 AM Tom, If you would consider a used JL 113, Audiogon is the best place to find one. Keep in mind the warranty does not transfer with JL products to the 2nd owner. The Fathom is a wonderful product. Small, powerful, sexy and has the A.R.O. which in some cases, is enough. If cost constraints are an issue, there are other current offerings that hopefully will fit your needs. However, the Fathom is worth the cost if the cash flow is available. Much Luck, Charles Tom899 09-25-07, 07:38 PM Hi Please do yourself a favor and get the top-of-the-line Outlaw, and the Velodyne SMS-1 for $999 while the sale is on. I considered the Outlaw sub, I currently have an Outlaw 1070 receiver, it sounds great! I don't really need the SMS-1 as I use REW and True RTA with a Behringer DSP1124 and B&K SPL SLM and mics. Also I made a decission to put my subs in a Salamander console which means I'm restricted to size, and front firing, maybe 23" deep x 19" wide x 28" High. So with this in mind I think I'm looking for one or two High powered sealed subs. Tom Tom899 09-25-07, 07:43 PM Tom, If you would consider a used JL 113, Audiogon is the best place to find one. Much Luck, Charles Thanks Charles - I looked at the f113 at Audiogon, seems tempting, but I just don't feel comfortable spending over $2200. And not getting the manufacturers warranty. It would probably be fine but.... Thanks Tom SoundsGood 09-25-07, 09:28 PM I looked at the f113 at Audiogon, seems tempting, but I just don't feel comfortable spending over $2200. I hear ya.... :) |
