Can someone post the 30% off coupon code good through the end of this weekend at Wherehouse.com? I verified it worked this morning and can't find the thread here with the code now. I never got my order submitted and want to now. PM is fine for the reply. Thanks!

Just put in an order for 12 hd-dvds and saved myself $100. FYI.. the coupon code also works on pre-orders. You can get things like Transformers, Top Gun, Face Off, Star Trek box set, and Jack Ryan collection for 30% off.

Not a bad deal.. too bad I got charged sales tax, but still worth it.

I don't know how this is a good deal for anyone. Not only do they charge shipping but ALSO tax. Amazon is still a much MUCH better deal (as is FYE, if you don't mind rebates).

Well I just priced my 12 titles on Amazon and its over $50 more that the deal I just got. That's without any boxsets that are 30% off.

Do you have the 10% off at Amazon?

How much is your tax?

Are you using free shipping at Amazon?

Even BEFORE I use my 10% off, this deal sucks. I just put in 8 titles and they're $15 less on amazon and double that if I use the 10% off.

If anyone can get this to work for them, good luck.

Shipping cost and tax wipes out most of the savings.

example:

Purchase Total: $31.18
Shipping: -- Select Method -- Standard Expedited $5.99
Sales Tax (UT 6.50%): $1.42
Wherehouse.com Promotion (WH30921)
(30% off ALL new & used DVDs & CDs!) ($9.35)
Order Total: $29.24

Not to mention the fact that most of their regular prices are several $$ more than amazon.

Thanks for the tip -- just glad I spotted it when I did, a near miss. Didn't save a pile, but saved enough to make it easily worthwhile. Five titles, two of them used.

Used titles might be the only way to make this work.

If anyone actually sees where this coupon is worthwhile, please post it! Maybe i'm missing it.

I qualified each new title by applying the discount, adding the incremental shipping, and comparing to the 10% off Amazon with free shipping. Each title reflected a savings with the net being quite respectable (particularly given the used titles :)), though my Amazon 10% definitely waters it down.

But you have to remember, many people don't have that!

Don't know when their sale ends, but it was still running last night -- I ordered four more titles, three of them used!

Again...gimme titles. Most of their "regular" prices are above amazon.

Like i said, even before the 10% discount, there was a severe difference in price.

I gather you are asking what I just ordered? OK!

"Casino Royale" (used)
"X-Men: Last Stand" (used)
"Rocky" (used)
"The Patriot" (new)

That totals $73.07 including $6.49 shipping. Average of $18.27 per title. "The Patriot" actually works out to $16.21 + $1.62 = $17.83 or just barely cheaper than Amazon with 10% off and free shipping. Admittedly, I'd prefer lower still, but that's always the case :)!

According to order status, my earlier order placed 9/23 shipped today (9/25) and this 9/24 order will probably ship tomorrow. I don't yet know if they'll provide a tracking number -- this is my first experience with them.

That's fine. I don't doubt that used titles would be great. But I was wondering what new titles actually worked out for someone. They have very very few used titles to choose from.

(not that any of this matters anyway because the sale is over)

As in my "The Patriot" example, including the Amazon 10% and free shipping, it was 15 cents cheaper at Wherehouse (in a purchase of four titles). For the many people that don't have the Amazon 10%, that would effectively make Amazon about 10% MORE expensive than the Wherehouse 30% off sale. That would appear a good deal to me.

As you say, the sale appears to be over now -- I was lucky to get that second order in. I've no idea what their turnover is in used HD discs, but at 30% off, they can be very attractive, especially for the more expensive titles. I ordered a total of nine titles, five of which were used.
