I realized tha as I was trying to play Knocked Up HD-DVD for the first time on the 360 I was prompted to update the dash. When the system rebooted I was met with a strange "Loading" screen (probably online fatures menu or something. The machine locked, and I rebooted. Now, when I try to play the movie I get about 3 seconds of black and then get kicked out to the dash.

Everything else plays fine. I cleared the cache to no avail. The movie plays through perfectly on my A2.

For kicks I hooked the HD-DVD addon to my PC. I was able to get a directory on the disc and all seemed well (although I can not play it because of lack of software).

I think either the dash update broke this movie, or my box decided it didn't like the particular brand of humor on this disc.

Anyone else with trouble?

I am having problems of another kind--my flux capacitor is broken. Without that key piece of technology that makes time travel possible, I am unable to journey three days into the future to pick up a copy of Knocked Up on the release date and test its functionality on my 360 drive.

I checked it earlier on my add on and it played fine. I did have the hard drive off though so it was not live.

It has some DLC that has to load the first time, go into the system blade and choose memory and wipe your hd-dvd drives pstorage clear (or try to pick it out but they are all unlabeled) this WILL wipe your bookmarks unfortunately if you have any (and scenes or anythign else saved in movie on any movie)

Fire up the movie and a loading screen will come up and it will take a while, just ignore it and go grab a soda or some popcorn, it will eventually start, once that happens you don't have to go through that bit again.... until some other movie freaks out locks up and you have to clear the drive pstorage again lol.

The only problem I had was trying to watch the u-control stuff, it started skipping badly, I never did try a second time but I imagine that it will be fixed eventually.

The dash update had nothing to do with HD-DVD. It was an update for the peripheral for the game "Scene It"

Thats all it should have affected. But even on xbox.com people are saying it messed up there 360 and have other problems... I guess they still have not figured out how to update the 360 with no problems....

if you're only getting the black screen now and not the loading screen you need to go into the hd dvd drive and clear out the different files that hd dvds leave on it. it's kind of a pain since they don't label themselves but I was having the same problem with the 2nd disc of Heroes and that seemed to do the trick

glad to help

If only the Xbox could show us the little graphics the studios have been using to label the save data instead of the text tags they are not including we'd be able to tell what is what in there. Maybe a dash update one day?
