I used to capture recorded programs with my Motorola 6412 from Brighthouse in Michigan all the time (for a couple of years now). But lately I went to do this and it won't capture anymore. Apparently I can capture live stuff no problems, but the recorded programs no longer seem to be going through the firewire. Has anyone else seen this or know of a way around it?
Thanks,
Don

It sounds like Brighthouse recently enabled 5C content protection on those channels. There's nothing you can do to record those channels to a PC.
You'll need a HDTV D-VHS VCR (or a Blu-ray / HD-DVD recorder in 2-3 years) if you want to archive that content. The alternative is to buy a TivoHD with a larger hard drive (say, 1Tb), so you don't have to worry about running out of space and/or programs being deleted.

I've double-checked the settings to make sure and there's definitely no 5c protection. I can capture all I want as long as it's live. It's only DVR'd shows that I can't capture. So, for example, I used to be able to record a show (like the Upside Down Show for my daughter) and then capture the recorded episode during playback later and burn it on DVD, etc. Live works, just not playback...
