Does Halo 3 run natively in 1080p or does the 360 just upscale it to that?because in the IGN review they mentioned playing it in 1080p

It's obviously 720p native.

Game journalists are so stupid.

I believe tha back of the BOX says 1080p. You are right, it really is most likely the scailer doing the work.

Thats what i thought, they are just scaling it.

Yes the back of the box says 720p/1080i/1080p Oh and its optimized for hard drive.

yeah but just cause the back of the box says that does it mean it will run nativly at 1080p or just it will run at 1080p with an upscaled signal from 720p

What does that mean exactly? Reduces loading? Or just that a hard drive will allow you to store more clips, user created maps, ect?

I'm guessing during the single player as you know with halo you'll seed loading area complete as your playing. So i guess it's a cache thing.

The ign editor said it looks amazing in 1080p. He didn't say anything about native resolution, lol. It was just his opinion, relax.

Im not really critisizing him I just wanna know the native rez

you wont see a complex game @1080p on the 360, period. as with 99.5% of all 360 games, halo 3 is rendered at 720p

I wonder if we'll even see complexed games run in 1080p next generation. It's a major jump in processing power to render a game in 1080p versus 720p. Can you imagine how much the Ps4 and Xbox720 would cost if it was designed to run the state of the games at 1080p? Pc gamers know how expensive resolution can be.

Probably, I mean GT5 will be 1080P and 60FPS. I'd expect it to be the norm on the next gen consoles.

Expect to be disappointed. ;)

no, it is 1080p. Halo 3 is the first xbox 360 game to have 1080p .. gears at a close second with 1080i. it is NOT upscaled.

Both Gears and Halo 3 are 720p.

The first 1080p rendered games on the 360 were Virtua Tennis and NBA Street Homecourt.

All games can be upscaled to 1080p, and then output as either 1080p or 1080i, of course.

I read some where the 360 is more suited to do 1080P then then PS3. In fact I read it in this part of the forum. Research it and you can read it for yourself.

i agree with you, but like i said, we wont see a huge scale game at 1080p.

tennis with the most of 2v2, sure.... homecourt is what 2v2 or 4v4? either way, they are small scale games, and can be done in 1080p, something like halo3, gears, bioshock, mass effect, no way. not this generation.

What everyone has to realize, while these generations of consoles are decently powerful, they are a midrange pc. PS3 and Xbox 360 are not High End PC Rigs. The graphics cards inside of these units can't come close to the raw processing power of a 2900XT or 8800GTX/Ultra. This is a fact, you guys are asking far to much of the 360 and PS3 to render games natively at 1920 X 1080, they will not do it for games like Halo 3, Gears, Mass Effect, COD4, GTA4, etc. It's asking to much, lack of RAM, Raw processing power in the GPU's. What do you expect for $500?

What is the difference between a game being upscaled to 1080p and natively running at 1080p? I dont really know too much about this stuff, but I just wanna know the difference and how you can actually tell if a game is being upscaled to 1080p and not natively running at 1080p. thank everyone

Native is the original resolution that the game is rendered or processed. If it is being upscaled, it means that the game has less than 1080 vertical lines of resolution.

You can easily tell if something is upscaled because the image will appear soft.

Most ppl assume incorrectly, & just see 1080p on box & go ape !@#$..
