Looks like a promising title :)

i saw this in the theaters, and im looking forward to this release
I really wanted to see this but I missed it in theaters. Looking forward to the BD release.
MySassyGirl 09-24-07, 03:13 AM I thought this was a very good movie! I'll pick it up for sure...
Oooo!... it's got the Chubbchubbs on it too! I love CG animation in high def.
ajamils 09-24-07, 08:24 AM never seen the movie but after reading the positive reviews I'm thinking about picking it up.
Pre-ordered :D I planned on buying this but now I know for sure! :)
joe_six_pack 09-24-07, 09:45 AM Good movie. I'll pick it up.
October looks to be a VERY busy month.
ajamils 09-24-07, 09:59 AM HOLY sh**....just saw the price of this movie....why is this soo expensive ? :(
joe_six_pack 09-24-07, 10:05 AM $26.95 from amazon.
New releases tend to be around the $24 - $27 range.
This is cool.
Spiderman will have this feature as well.
First title to feature an icon for SONY PlayStation 3 users to see on their menu to start to playback of the Blu-ray Disc.
It was actually a pretty nice movie, worth a purchase or rental.
I wasn't planning on picking this up, but now I going to pick it up for sure. Great review.

That's cool. I was kinda disappointed all movies did't come with something like taht.
SheepFactory 09-24-07, 10:17 PM This movie is definitely a purchase. After ratatouille it was one of the best animated films I have seen. Dont judge it by the trailer (which was terrible) and give this one a chance.
Pre-ordered. Maybe I'll even play with the bookmarks.
BLAZETIGER 09-25-07, 09:26 AM Saw this in theaters with my 2 and 5 year olds. Very funny movie. Both kids liked it as did I. Way better than Happy Feet.
Kris Deering 09-25-07, 10:36 AM Watched it last night. Great movie, amazing picture. I was disappointed that the PCM soundtrack wasn't 24 bit though. Paidgeek had specifically said it would be in the Insider's thread, but it is only 16 bit. Oh well, still sounded really good. One of the best A/V presentations yet, though I think some may have issues with the visual style.

So does the picture quality match/surpass Open Season or Corpse Bride ?

Didn't he say that the DTHD mix would be 24 bits and the PCM would be at the usual 48/16?

Yes, I distinctly remember him saying that the TrueHD track would be 24-bit.

actually Bram Stoker's Dracula has this feature already. it also appears sony is actually putting disc art on the BDs and had removed the opening "coming to blu-ray" trailer.

Different type of visual style really. This movie has a very stylized look to support the "documentary" feel. Personally I feel it is as good as the two you mentioned, but doesn't have the consistent polished look. Dimension is incredible though. Check out the scene when Geek is teaching how to make a surf board on the beach.
space2001 10-10-07, 11:16 AM This movie was better then I expected and the picture quality was outstanding

This is the most "filmlike" animated movie I have seen.
Outstanding PQ; excellent movie. SB does an excellent job is the voice of the main character.

Very well said, its a CGI movie of a documentary..

+1. I watched is last nite and really enjoyed the movie. A lot better movie than Happy Feet.

Happy feet was kinda creepy to me. The Penguins looked "Too real" it just didn't seem right. Seemed like they were confused what route they were going on that movie. Comedy, Musical, Documentary...I just settled for the fact it is HD pr0n.
I actually enjoyed Open Season and Surf's up a lot more than Happy Feet and Ant Bully. WB needs to get their weight up in the Animated division.
IMO the studio's who rule at Animated movies right now are:
Pixar, Dreamworks, Sony & FOX. In that order.
patrick99 10-10-07, 12:41 PM A lot better movie than Happy Feet.
Absolutely.
SheepFactory 10-10-07, 02:52 PM Man it looked amazing. The last scene when cody is riding the tube wave was breathtakingly beautiful. Nice extras too.
Surf's Up is one of the most entertaining animated movies available as far as HD media is concerned. The visuals are breathtaking -- if there is a finer rendering of the ocean and its waves, I'd love to see it. This is a film that both parents and kids will enjoy. Regardless of the mocumentary stylistics (which I personally think are creative and refreshing), Surf's Up is visually stunning.
arbitrage000 10-10-07, 07:37 PM I tried to go to my Blockbuster (in Canada) and rent this and Reign Over Me on BD. They usually get all new releases in BD (they got FF2, 3copies last wk) but today the guy told me so far no BD or HDDVD for that matter came in. He was pissed (he's an HDDVD fanboy) and I was pissed. He said they might still show up later in the week. My Blockbuster was part of the trial HD disks stores in Canada and since Canada didn't ditch HDDVD like in the US, we still have equal walls of BD and HDDVD which I like as I will soon have an HDDVD player along with my PS3.
Kroenen 10-11-07, 02:06 AM I watched this film earlier tonight and the PQ was nothing short of amazing. A much better film IMHO than Happy Feet.
I am really getting irritated with Amazon Prime. This is the second week in a row that I have had to wait until Thursday to get a movie released on Tuesday. Are others also getting late deliveries from Amazon?
I was pleasantly surprised watching Surf's Up with my younger kids at the theater and I can't wait to watch this at home with the whole family.

Isn't Prime 2 day shipping? If it shipped Tuesday, then Thurdsay be the normal delivery date? Unless they normally ship a day before Tuesday.
I tried to order a HD movie for the first time at Amazon, Surf's UP. I placed the order a couple days before Tuesday. I figured with free shipping, it would at least ship the same day as any other order, just take longer to arrive, the 5-9 days it says for free shipping. Nope, the night on Tuesday, it hadn't shipped, and they gave me an estimate for delivery between 22-27th.
I mean what the hell. When did 5-9 days become 13-18 days? Were they just going to sit on the order for a week? They have it in stock, it doesn't take 8 days to pack and ship it!!! Talk about insulting. I canceled the order and picked it up at Walmart Tuesday night for $2 less.
I didn't see the film in theaters, but I really enjoyed it at home. Cracked up at a few points. And the dialog just flows well and has energy, bringing the characters to life in a different way. And if you watch the behind the scenes for voices, you find they did bring the actors in all at once, to say the lines to each other and come up with their own stuff to make that happen. I think that's the way it should be done, for chemistry and better interaction. Don't see why all animated films just have the actors come in, read the lines by themselves.

I've had no problems with late deliveries with Amazon Prime.
patrick99 10-11-07, 06:04 AM I watched the making of special features last night and I was happy to see they were HD rather thann SD.
Watched The ChubbChubbs Save X-Mas, but wow that short animated movie was incredibly sharp and vibrant
spicaly 10-11-07, 12:03 PM I'm very pleased with it as well, awesome animation/cgi and a good story funny movie way better than happy feet in my opinion. havent checked any of the extras out yet tho
ajamils 10-11-07, 12:31 PM This is probably the first animated movie where I enjoyed the extras as much as the movie.
