Hi,
I have a Velodyne f-1200 from 1992 and recently joined the 5.1 crowd. I found a place that is selling the Hsu Research vft-3 mk2 (discontinued model, new in a box) and I'm wondering if moving to the Hsu will improve the bass I get from movies and music. My friend's HT system really sounds great. Lots of "shaking" and "vibrating" in action flicks (Crank, Pearl Harbor) with clear highs and mids. At home, I try to replicate these thundering sounds to no avail. I have a Yamaha 6090 and I've tried different settings over many hours and days. Turning up the volume on the f-1200 just makes everything sound boomy and with a loss of clarity in the lower frequencies.
My fronts are Energy RC-30s, rc-lcr, and Mirage frx-9 rears.
Does anyone think the Hsu give me what I want?
