Hi

I am right now at a junction point where I need to decide between a HSU VTF-1, VTF-2 Mk III, or a Velo SPL-1000R. The prices for the HSU are standard, but I could get the Velo for under USD 700.

I have a fairly small room (about 18 x 12), but it has a few openings to other rooms. My other equipment is a Outlaw amped set of Polk LSis: 9s for the front, C for the center and 7s for the back. Oh, and I have about 80% music (mostly classical), 20% HT.

Any suggestions, opinions, etc.?

Thanks!

Hi

With a room of that size I would definitely get the HSU VTF-2MK III. I have 2 HSU VTF-3HOs, and they are not too much, in a space roughly the same size as yours.

All the Best

Cool, thanks!

Are there any other opinions? Reason that I am asking is that the Velo has a much higher WAF ;-) - which is not critical, but desirable.

If you're going to use the sub for music. Get a sealed one. Martin Logan Dynamo or the little RELs come to mind. Otherwise, HSU is a great ported sub so is Velodyne. I'm pretty sure both will do admirably. It was easier to pick for me, Hsu's warehouse is located 2 miles from me, and i saved on shipping.

You should check out Outlaw subwoofers. They were designed by Dr. Hsu. They have a plexiglass top, that is better looking.

If you could strech your budget, they have a great special. You get their top-of-the line subwoofer and the $600 Velodyne SMS-1, for less than $1,000.

Buy your wife a piece of jewelry.
