According to dvdaf.com, it certainly is. I've never seen erroneous info posted on that site before. But no official announcement as of right now, thus the question mark.

View Full Version : Braveheart HD-DVD coming Dec. 18? Rusty James 09-24-07, 12:31 AM According to dvdaf.com, it certainly is. I've never seen erroneous info posted on that site before. But no official announcement as of right now, thus the question mark. akbled 09-24-07, 12:39 AM According to dvdaf.com, it certainly is. I've never seen erroneous info posted on that site before. But no official announcement as of right now, thus the question mark. I sure hope that you are right. Only time will tell. That does look interesting, they don't have any of the other often rumored titles up there. JamonWithLove 09-24-07, 01:26 AM I really really hope they know something we dont! pettit03 09-24-07, 03:09 AM no word yet HtLurker 09-24-07, 03:13 AM If this is true, my wallet just took another hit. theone2 09-24-07, 03:17 AM Braveheart...mmm...I like :D FrancescoP 09-24-07, 07:04 AM According to dvdaf.com, it certainly is. I can't find the article... can you post the link? theone2 09-24-07, 07:05 AM I can't find the article... can you post the link? http://www.dvdaf.com/search.html?has=Braveheart&init_form=str0_0_has_Braveheart&pm=one&pg=7 :) John Ballentine 09-24-07, 07:22 AM Cool!!! FrancescoP 09-24-07, 07:25 AM http://www.dvdaf.com/search.html?has=Braveheart&init_form=str0_0_has_Braveheart&pm=one&pg=7 :) 2007-12-18!! WoW! :D Schils 09-24-07, 07:55 AM Man, part of me feels like saying OH HELL YEAH BABY, but the other side is telling me to not get excited just yet....I say this while crossing my fingers of course! ;) MichaelHDDVD 09-24-07, 08:20 AM If this is the only other movie Paramount announces this year it will be worth it :) Patrick. 09-24-07, 09:03 AM Nice! I can't wait to get my hands on this one as the DVD release is pretty dated and poorly done. bboisvert 09-24-07, 10:08 AM This would be FANTASTIC news. Here's hoping... RobertR 09-24-07, 10:13 AM "Plays on any DVD player". Huh?? 5thDanMaster 09-24-07, 10:52 AM According to dvdaf.com, it certainly is. I've never seen erroneous info posted on that site before. But no official announcement as of right now, thus the question mark. I sure hope so, I'd rather get the "Gladiator" announcement though. ;) baldbull 09-24-07, 01:36 PM I would be very surprised if this was true. They waited quite a while to put the SD DVD out. But I would love to be wrong as this is one of my top five movies ever. baldbull 09-24-07, 01:39 PM "Plays on any DVD player". Huh?? Since it is in the region coding section, I assume they mean any HD DVD player, but who knows? Or maybe a combo disc? bboisvert 09-24-07, 01:41 PM "Plays on any DVD player". Huh?? That's just the default text for something that has no region coding. baldbull 09-24-07, 01:42 PM Yeah, I'm not buying it. DVDAF lists Amazon and IMDB as their source. Amazon simply says sign up to be notified when it is announced, and IMDB says nothing about the HD DVD. nickoakdl 09-24-07, 01:46 PM Nice! I can't wait to get my hands on this one as the DVD release is pretty dated and poorly done. Exactly what I was thinking. I just watched it on my Mitsubishi HD1000 projected to 100" and it looked horrible. Probably one of the worst looking DVDs that I have projected. theone2 09-24-07, 01:46 PM Yeah, I'm not buying it. DVDAF lists Amazon and IMDB as their source. Amazon simply says sign up to be notified when it is announced, and IMDB says nothing about the HD DVD. There is a list price...39.99$ baldbull 09-24-07, 02:40 PM There is a list price...39.99$ Believe me, I would love to be wrong. I just don't see anything official... thewretched22 09-24-07, 02:41 PM If it is true, this is another must have title. philnerd 09-24-07, 03:00 PM I would be very surprised if this was true. They waited quite a while to put the SD DVD out. Part of the wheeling and dealing between Toshiba and Paramount may well have included agreements to release some substantial catalog titles somewhat earlier than otherwise. When new customers shop for an HD format this holiday season, seeing an A++ film like Braveheart exclusive in the HD DVD rack is worth a lot more than a television spot. thebland 09-24-07, 03:23 PM Ooooh...I'd be in on this one in a minute!!! Bob Black 09-24-07, 03:30 PM This title has long appeared in Paramount's "coming soon" films, along with Star Trek: First Contact (as well as the ultimate movies collection), School Of Rock, Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Grease, Forrest Gump, Coach Carter, Vanilla Sky, and a couple others. So I wouldn't be too surprised if it turns out to be true...but I won't get excited 'til I see an official announcment. SC0TLANDF0REVER 09-24-07, 03:51 PM This is a movie that would make me hasten my plans to buy an HD DVD player (waiting till 3rd Gens come out). MovieMinded 09-24-07, 05:22 PM Paramount hasn't sent any information to retailers yet, but they will be making alot of announcements shortly so it's possible word just leaked out about this early. They are definately stepping up their release schedule now that they are HD-DVD exclusive. And you're going to see alot more day & date titles as well now. baldbull 09-24-07, 07:11 PM From everyone's favorite site (http://www.thedigitalbits.com) regarding the standard def DVD: The film will be presented in newly-remastered anamorphic widescreen video, with Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 audio. The previously released audio commentary with director Mel Gibson and 2 theatrical trailers will be included, but you'll also get 2 new featurettes (Tales of William Wallace and A Writer's Journey), archival interviews with the cast, a photo gallery and multiple History Channel featurettes as well. There's no indication yet of an HD-DVD release, but stay tuned. There's also no indication yet as to whether the original DVD's documentary (A Filmmaker's Passion: The Making of Braveheart) will be included. We'll be sure to update you when we know more. Numanoid101 09-24-07, 07:15 PM Ooooh...I'd be in on this one in a minute!!! What if it didn't have lossless audio? thehun 09-24-07, 08:00 PM While they are at it, release the Ghost and The Darkness, which hasn't even had an anamorphic WS release. philnerd 09-24-07, 10:22 PM While they are at it, release the Ghost and The Darkness, which hasn't even had an anamorphic WS release. Second that, would buy this in a heartbeat. Dave Mack 09-24-07, 10:30 PM hell, i'd love vanilla sky, pet sematary, the dead zone... Boogie7910 09-25-07, 07:35 AM This would make me a happy man. Shinner 09-25-07, 05:23 PM What I saw on DVDreview (i.e. no mention of an HD-DVD version....bummer): Here are the full specs for the Braveheart Special Edition As reported yesterday, Paramount Home Entertainment has a new DVD version of Mel Gibson’s epic Braveheart in the making for release on December 18. Until now we had not had detailed information about the exact contents of the release but finally we are able to give you the full scoop. The film will come in a new widescreen transfer complete with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. As extras you will find a Commentary Track by Mel Gibson on the disc, accompanied by the History channel Documentary “Reel To Real”. As another extra, look for the Featurette “Tales Of William Wallace” as well as Cast and Crew Interview, a Photo Gallery and a gallery of the movie’s various Trailers. baldbull 09-25-07, 05:28 PM The latest from the Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents): We've got one last bit of Braveheart follow-up for you today: Industry sources are telling us to expect an HD-DVD release of the film some time in 2008. Note that details on the DVD extras (some of which we listed yesterday) are still being finalized and are subject to change. Urza 09-25-07, 06:08 PM The latest from the Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents): Yea saw that, woot!!!!!!!! Schils 09-25-07, 06:27 PM Good news, I can wait, at least we have a pretty good idea it's coming, this is one of the biggies for many of us! I hope they at least make the announcement prior to the end of this year and stick a date on it, that will go a long way for many people considering a player this holiday season if they at least see the formal news that this IS indeed on it's way to HD DVD soon enough! MattGuyOR 09-26-07, 04:42 PM Sounds like we could get it pretty soon! http://www.dvdtown.com/news/new-collectors-edition-of-braveheart/4772 baldbull 09-26-07, 04:45 PM Nothing new. Just says "in the works". Wish we had something more definitive... Schils 09-26-07, 04:59 PM Nice news. ANY feedback on this one just sounds good! ;) "Paramount will release a New Collector's Edition of "Braveheart" on DVD this December 18th. Extras include a commentary by director Mel Gibson, making-ofs, and other TBA material. An HD DVD version is also in the works according to sources close to the studio." :D theone2 09-26-07, 05:20 PM An HD DVD version is also in the works according to sources close to the studio." :D :D nice...i like :D Boogie7910 09-27-07, 06:11 AM I want to see this movie in all it's HD glory so bad. I've seen this film 3 times when it was in theaters and I've watched the DVD too many times to count. This is one of the best movies ever. Mel Gibson rocks. NYFOOTBALLGIANTS 09-27-07, 11:02 AM WOOT! This is FANTASTIC news! Mel Gibson may be a lunatic and Braveheart is laden with historical inaccuracies but man I love this film!!! It should be a perfect demo piece... I wasn't expecting this at all... Made my day!!! dabear35 09-27-07, 12:36 PM Man, I wish Braveheart HD-DVD would come out on Dec. 18th! What a perfect stocking stuffer this would be. koherp 09-27-07, 04:17 PM I'm pumped for this release too!
