Adobe has said that its latest Premiere Elements package; version 6, will only support export options for Blu-ray rather than HD DVD.

As if MS can't remedy that with some kind of alternative option if it boils down to that.

Besides the fact that Premiere elements is only up to version 4 how is this news? This is already the situation with Premiere CS3 so it's no surprise Elements is like this too.

It's been well known that Adobe's crappy authoring software is Blu-ray only...since NAB back in April.

I'm future Final Cut Studio user and thus I'm just waiting for Apple to shore up the HD DVD authoring and add Blu-ray authoring options. Frankly After Effects is one of a few apps that Adobe does well on. The other stuff can easily be replaced.

According to reports, Sony pressured them heavily, on the basis of including with Sony VAIOs. Adobe earns quite a lot from Sony for these pre-loaded programs.

I would still like to know whether this is ONLY for the software included on VAIOs, tho. If you remember the version of WinDVD on Sony VAIOs will ONLY play Bluray (special version) - it won't even play DVDs or anything from the hard disc on my new FZ.

If it is ALL versions of the software, then SHAME on Adobe for caving in. Disgraceful.

there is only one company that decision will hurt and it will be adobe.

Couldn't agree more.. there is more to lose than to gain in a NLE by choosing sides. I'm a video editor, and if an NLE doesn't give me ALL the choices they can... my eyes will wander in other directions.

I think FCP outsells Adobe anyway with BOTH PE and PP2.... but After Effects is good I have it and it works quite well, quite flexible in its abilities too.
