View Full Version : AVIVO/ATI bug in Meda center
Hi
I just wanted to ask if you have also noticed that avivo color controls dont work in media center? looks like ati has developed an extension for media center so you can improve pq by adjusting brightness, saturation, hue, tint etc. (can be quite useful for people who have projectors without tint options). but unfortunately this tool doesn't work for me. is there any possibility to use avivo in media center?

No, but I can sympathize. I have the same problem.
hmm very strange. but this can surelely be solved somehow... someone who has an idea how to make avivo color working in media center? :(
Dodgexander 09-26-07, 07:12 AM Are you sure your using the overlay renderer?
hi & thanks for the answer! i'm really desperate.. i'm not sure about that. can you explain what overlay rendering is? :-/ and what advantages do i have by activating it?

What I get is:
"Could not fetch display information from drivers. This can be corrected by restarting Windows."
Of course, following the directions accomplishes nothing.
seems like ati is just not capable to make the mce etension running... they force us to use avivo media center...
someone who did it?

I get the same thing, you're running Vista right? This used to work on MCE2005 but not on Vista. I guess ATI needs to release an updated version.
no thats the strange thing. it doesnt work for xp neither! :-/ is it even possible to use avivo colors in xp media center?

Hmmm...I'm not sure but I think the ATI media center extension is the same add-on they've had for a while now. I don't remember but I think the date is from 2005?
hmm is there maybe something similar i can use?

No, MCE2005. It's never worked for me, but I just started trying about 2 months ago. Maybe an update broke it.

Yea maybe. My MCE machine is pretty old, running CCC 6.7 or something like that.
so can it be used somehow?

Well I know it works with my MCE2005 machine but I'm running an old version of catylst. 6.7 or something like that - older than 7.0. It still works just fine.
I tried installing on my Vista machine and get the error listed above. I thought it was a Vista thing but maybe it's an issue with the new versions of CCC?
hmm does catalyst 6.9 support radeon x1950? if i use the mce extension, will it implement avivo color or will the processor do the job?
has overlay in theroy better picture quality than vmr? or is it the same when calibrated?
If i want to add some gamme, is it bad when i do this via ffdshow gamme configuration? i mean will it use more cpu?
My ATI and AVIVO is all jacked up with 7.9 software. Encoder now fails when converting recorded shows to wmv9 and the parental controls fail during the installation.
What is going on with ATI drivers and software?
