I purchased a jvc-rs1 and am using a stewart studiotek 1.3 96 inch screen. I was told that since my screen is 16:9 that I would want to buy a scaler and anamorphic lens to stretch the image when I watch dvd's.

I am not sure this is correct so would appreciate any information possible. What are the recommended ones to purchase and is there instructions on how to use these? i am a newbie and read through many of the threads but cannot figure out what to do.

Thanks

Jim

I assume you are talking about 2.35:1. If you want to go that way, it would require one of 2 ways. First, a 2.35:1 screen along with an anamorphic lens and video processor...that is what is known as a CIH setup. You can also do this lens expensively by the zooming method (which if you want more info check out the 2.35:1 section).

If you don't want a CIH system and just want to watch 2.35:1 on a 16:9 screen, you don't need anything else to do that.

Maybe I have been misinformed. I believe I have a hdtv screen which 1.87? I was told that I needed this to eliminate the bars on the side of the screen when I show movies?

So is what you are saying based on my setup I dont need this?

Thanks

I think you mean 1.78 (which is 16:9). On a 16:9 there will only be bars on the sides if you watch standard 4:3 video. There will, however, be top and bottom bars for when you watch 2.35:1 (essentially unless you get masking there will always be some bars).

You don't need it for the setup you have now.
