My Pearl was repaired a couple months ago (with less than 100 hours on it) due to a bad lamp and Iris components. It's working fine now but for some reason, the fan noise is twice than before (even on low lamp setting)! I took it back to the shop and they replaced the fan itself, but the noise level has remained the same...........they told me that there is nothing more that they can do. I can live with the loud fan noise most of the time...esp. on action scenes.....but during quiet moments, it drives me crazy. Any suggestions?

What happens when you turn it to high lamp mode? Does it still get louder or stay the same?

The noise level is same (loud) in any lamp setting.

You check to make sure it's not set to High Altitude mode? I thought I remember reading that when they come back from service they are set to this.

As Tetsuken said, it could be in High Altitude Mode. If not, it is possible that the low lamp fan setting is set to stay on the high speed mode (like the high setting). I believe that is a simple fix by Sony (perhaps in the service menu).
