View Full Version : Any hints that The Fly will be delayed? ss9001 09-24-07, 04:09 PM Still no link at Amazon. Any insider info as to why? I hope it doesn't get delayed...it's one title that I wanted since it was 1st announced & delayed the last time. Kikar 09-24-07, 04:45 PM Just that it is a Fox release........:D Dave Mack 09-24-07, 04:49 PM ouch... ;) nyg 09-24-07, 05:08 PM Amazon seems to forget to list some titles here and there. I would hope that's the case with The Fly and that it'll be up shortly. I want this BD as well. RDarrylR 09-24-07, 05:13 PM If it is being released in 8 days someone must have seen copies moving around haven't they? Brad1963 09-24-07, 05:48 PM DVD PACIFIC has not shipped it yet. I have an order in with them. swanlee 09-24-07, 06:29 PM It's a FOX release do not beleive it until it is on the shelf. Even Amazon doesn't trust FOX which is why it's not there yet. sixfootse7en 09-24-07, 06:47 PM If it is being released in 8 days someone must have seen copies moving around haven't they? 8 days? You mean 15 days. It isn't released until 10/9. nyg 09-24-07, 07:01 PM It's a FOX release do not beleive it until it is on the shelf. Even Amazon doesn't trust FOX which is why it's not there yet. If that were the case then none of the 10/2 Fox titles would be listed on their site. Thanks for exaggerating though. zaRgbE 09-24-07, 08:35 PM Even Amazon doesn't trust FOX which is why it's not there yet. Really. So, you've confirmed this with Amazon, haven't you? Or are you the CEO of Amazon, in disguise? zaRgbE 09-24-07, 08:38 PM Still no link at Amazon. Any insider info as to why? I hope it doesn't get delayed...it's one title that I wanted since it was 1st announced & delayed the last time. I've seen no hints or clairvoyant indications of a delay. But it's still a few weeks to release, so there's a chance it might get delayed. Maxx_75 09-25-07, 01:52 AM I think that its painfully obvious that Fox has no credability left. We assume that they won't release anything. They are going to have to have 2 press statements. One a few months out and then another 3 weeks out to confirm that they havent BS'ed, CES'ed, or Para-mount'ed us for the 4th or 5th time. Ron_Mexico81 09-30-07, 10:08 PM Any news on "The Fly"? AaronSCH 09-30-07, 10:23 PM I just checked...it's not open! nyg 09-30-07, 10:24 PM I just sent Amazon an email inquiring as to why this item isn't available for preorder on their site. Will hopefully hear back by tomorrow. They're usually pretty quick to respond to questions. rwduke 10-01-07, 07:58 AM 'From Hell' is also not available for pre-order. Brian Hampton 10-01-07, 09:28 AM Hey, I sold back my copy of the Fly on DVD as soon at it was listed, which was now a long time ago because that was before the first time it got postponed. I want this on HD so badly makes me think they are just teasing me by pushing it back. Hope it gets released soon and I will pay the inflated Fox price for it to have it ASAP. -Brian John Ballentine 10-01-07, 08:04 PM Me too! (Amazing film) ss9001 10-01-07, 08:41 PM DVDPlanet & DVDEmpire still have it for pre-order. Last year, Amazon sometimes didn't get specific titles for pre-order, but it's kind of hard understanding why this is the case now. nyg 10-01-07, 08:50 PM They responded to my email and are requesting the ASIN for this disc. I have no idea what that is. Amazon is the only site that I've seen that lists this number/code. I sent them a link to DVDEmpire's page with The Fly BD instead and told them their competition's on the ball even though they aren't. ss9001 10-01-07, 09:13 PM Good work! Thanks. Maybe they'll get it posted in time for release date. CochiseGuy 10-02-07, 10:03 AM They responded to my email and are requesting the ASIN for this disc. I have no idea what that is. Amazon is the only site that I've seen that lists this number/code. I sent them a link to DVDEmpire's page with The Fly BD instead and told them their competition's on the ball even though they aren't. I only see ASIN on Amazon as well, and was curious. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASIN)- The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a product identification number used by Amazon.com and its partners. Despite the name, it is not a "standard" outside of Amazon.com, but is used consistently for referencing products within the Amazon network of sites. The words "Amazon Standard" should therefore be read as "standard internal to Amazon", rather than "external standard initiated by Amazon". Probably best to just send them the UPC code when they ask for an ASIN. According to DVDEmpire, the is UPC is 024543427896. nyg 10-02-07, 05:04 PM I only see ASIN on Amazon as well, and was curious. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASIN)- Kind of funny that they asked me for their own product number then. How on earth would I be able to provide them with that info? LOL! Probably best to just send them the UPC code when they ask for an ASIN. According to DVDEmpire, the is UPC is 024543427896. Well as I said I sent them a link to DVDEmpire's listing which as you mentioned, includes the UPC number. They are the one's in business, I can't be expected to do all of their work for them. That should be plenty IMO. Here's the last response: Thanks for writing to Amazon.com. I'm sorry, but it appears that we do not currently sell "The Fly (Blu-ray)" on Amazon.com. Oh well, I tried. They want me to take my money elsewhere, so be it. carnivale880 10-02-07, 11:29 PM anyone get any shipping notices yet for this or FROM HELL from dvdpacific?? if this doesn't list soon i will have to look elsewhere. sixfootse7en 10-03-07, 10:51 AM anyone get any shipping notices yet for this or FROM HELL from dvdpacific?? if this doesn't list soon i will have to look elsewhere. I have 3 Fox 10/9 releases preordered from DVD Pacific - The Fly, Robocop, and 28 Weeks Later. No word on any of them. rwduke 10-06-07, 12:55 PM I was finally able to order From Hell on Amazon today. Although it says "usually ships in one to two weeks rather than "available on Oct 9". Where is The Fly on amazon? foots 10-06-07, 12:59 PM For what it is worth I asked Moretonbaydvd on his forums about the Oct 9 FOX catalog titles. The response I got was that all of the Oct 9 FOX catalog titles are expected to ship on schedule. :) rwduke 10-06-07, 01:01 PM ^ I hope your source is right. I don't know what is up with Amazon and these two titles (From Hell and The Fly). ss9001 10-06-07, 05:12 PM I ordered Fly from DVDEmpire this week. A few bucks more than normal Amazon prices, but at least they are taking pre-orders for it. Kind of weird that Amazon didn't get this one. Maybe they have some allottment restrictions or maybe their purchasing dept just screwed the pooch on these 2 titles. dildatonr 10-06-07, 05:17 PM Odd, 28 weeks later has shipped but not robocop or the fly. all from dvdpacific. patrick99 10-06-07, 05:17 PM ^ I hope your source is right. I ordered From Hell before it was postponed and my Amazon account says delivery estimate of 10/11 to 10/18. rwduke 10-06-07, 07:38 PM I ordered From Hell before it was postponed and my Amazon account says delivery estimate of 10/11 to 10/18. That sounds promising. AaronSCH 10-07-07, 04:19 PM Well, I wouldn't count on seeing "Th Fly " street this Tuesday. However "From Hell" is listed as "shipping soon" on my account. Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com. I am sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. At this time, The Fly is unavailable to us and we're not sure if we'll be able to obtain it in the future. I would suggest checking our web site from time to time to see if this item is available from us or from another seller. If anyone is selling it, you'll see a "More Buying Choices" box on the product detail page; if it's not available from any sellers, you might see an "Order it used" or "Alert me" link. "Order it used" allows you to place a pre-order for the item in case another seller puts a copy up for sale later. "Alert me" allows you to sign up so we can e-mail you when Amazon has copies available for purchase. Once this item has been released and we receive copies, we will be able to ship it to you. It is not uncommon for there to be a delay of several weeks between the release and distribution of a new publication. When your order is shipped, you should receive an e-mail message confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment. As per our standard policy, we do not charge you for items until they enter the shipping process, so you will not be charged for this item until it is available and we have shipped it to you. Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com. rwduke 10-07-07, 07:27 PM Well, I wouldn't count on seeing "Th Fly " street this Tuesday. However "From Hell" is listed as "shipping soon" on my account. Bummer. Why isn't Fox releasing a statement? I hate when Fox gives consumers the silent treatment. bunkaroo 10-07-07, 07:40 PM Well, I wouldn't count on seeing "Th Fly " street this Tuesday. However "From Hell" is listed as "shipping soon" on my account. Same here. I placed the order yesterday and it flipped to Shipping Soon almost immediately. jdawg131 10-07-07, 08:33 PM Damn. That seriously sucks. Tuesday was going to be Fox sweet with Robocop, From Hell and the Fly. At least Rpbpcop and From Hell will finally ship; I've had From Hell on pre-order with Amazon, since Fox originally the title months ago. ss9001 10-07-07, 10:08 PM Best Buy, DVDEmpire, DVDPlanet, Movies Unlimited, CDUniverse (VideoUniverse), Bestprices, all still have for pre-order with release date of 10-9. As of this evening, the Fox website foxbd.com shows Fly as 10-9-07 "2 days left". Strange that Amazon could not order it...unless Fox had a limited production run and all available copies were sold to other retailers. Or Fox will pull a Fox and pull it at the 11th hour...not like they've not done this b4, right? We'll find out.... bunkaroo 10-07-07, 10:39 PM I can't find The Fly under the Blu-Ray section at DVDEmpire. AaronSCH 10-08-07, 01:24 AM Well, I will be checking out local b&m retailers to see if I can score this one. I just have a sneaking suspicion it was delayed without an announcement. It just doesn't make sense that Amazon didn't receive any copies and they only just recently posted "From Hell" with street date and pre-order status. It might even quietly appear in stores sometime past the street date. ss9001 10-08-07, 07:10 AM http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?userid=99365981899975&item_id=1284685&searchID=206430 Jacob You beat me to it. It's still up for pre-order. ss9001 10-08-07, 07:13 AM Aaron, Certainly this is a possibility. We'll see soon. If we read an announcement today or tomorrow, it would not surprise me. ss9001 patrick99 10-08-07, 07:23 AM That sounds promising. I just received an e-mail from Amazon saying my copy of From Hell has been shipped. rwduke 10-08-07, 07:31 AM I just received an e-mail from Amazon saying my copy of From Hell has been shipped. You prompted me to check my amazon account and mine shipped also. Hopefully The Fly will appear on amazon soon. John Ballentine 10-08-07, 07:59 AM Strange that it's not listed on Amazon - even if it is delayed. rwduke 10-08-07, 08:15 AM Strange that it's not listed on Amazon - even if it is delayed. I agree. Something is definitely up with this title. bunkaroo 10-08-07, 10:22 AM http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?userid=99365981899975&item_id=1284685&searchID=206430 Jacob Thanks. I swear I was typing in "the fly" at the BD section there and getting nothing last night. OSHAN 10-08-07, 12:32 PM Ugh, the Fly is my most anticipated release tomorrow, I hope it is on the shelf. John Ballentine 10-08-07, 01:29 PM I'll be checking at Best Buy Tomorrow - but don't expect to see it. Baraka X 10-08-07, 05:07 PM It has not been delayed at all as my copy shipped today from DVD Empire. It does suck that Amazon is not carrying this title, but lets be real, Amazon is the last place one should be looking as an indicator if a title has been delayed. Christ, they sent me the same e-mail alerting me that M & C will be shipping 10/9 after Fox confirmed the delay. Glad to finally squash the rumor that it was once again delayed. Finding it at BB, most likely not. sixfootse7en 10-08-07, 05:12 PM It has not been delayed at all as my copy shipped today from DVD Empire. Good news. rwduke 10-08-07, 05:18 PM Thanks. I swear I was typing in "the fly" at the BD section there and getting nothing last night. It's not you. DVD Empire has one of the worst search engines I've seen. Anyway, I placed my order with them. I cannot understand why this isn't available through amazon. ss9001 10-08-07, 05:27 PM I got an email this afternoon from DVDEmpire that mine was shipped today. Weird that Amazon didn't get it or couldn't get it from their normal distribution. But apparently it's out there for sale. :D nyg 10-08-07, 06:15 PM I got an email this afternoon from DVDEmpire that mine was shipped today. Weird that Amazon didn't get it or couldn't get it from their normal distribution. But apparently it's out there for sale. :D I'm glad it's not delayed but damn, DVDEmpire wants over $5 more than Amazon would charge me with the HDDISC10 promo. I guess I'll keep an eye on Ebay since Amazon is clueless on this one. OSHAN 10-08-07, 08:15 PM I buy all my blu-ray movies at a locally owned shop and they have no copies of the Fly even on order - the SKU isn't even in their system. They're definitely getting the other Fox releases tomorrow (though I forgot to ask about From Hell). ss9001 10-08-07, 09:02 PM Fox must have some @@cked up distribution channels. Fly is even available to order directly from the online Fox store. What a weird company.... Marc D Carra 10-09-07, 01:10 PM The Fly is in stock , here at Futureshop in Ottawa, so it's definietly out. Marc. rwduke 10-09-07, 01:15 PM The Fly is in stock , here at Futureshop in Ottawa, so it's definietly out. Marc. Very strange. This is the first title I am aware of that has not been made available on Amazon. John Ballentine 10-09-07, 01:18 PM True. I only order from Amazon - so looks like I'll have to wait until they stock it. dad1153 10-09-07, 01:48 PM So, anybody seen "The Fly" on the wild in the States? I went to three stores during lunch break (two BB's and a smaller indie shop that carries HDM) and neither had any new Fox BD releases except for the "28 ____ Later" movies. Mel2 10-09-07, 01:50 PM the fly is instock at dvdpacific. mdc3000 10-09-07, 05:09 PM Future Shop has it...but for $44.99cdn - HELL NO! Mr. Cinema 10-09-07, 06:18 PM So Fox sent copies of The Fly BD to DVD Pacific, but not to Best Buy, "the largest seller of HD media", Amazon.com "#2 seller" or Circuit City? That doesn't make a lick of sense. Mel2 10-09-07, 06:22 PM dvdpacific is located on the east coast. maybe they just got their shipments faster. who knows. it is weird that most stores especially in the midwest haven't seen most of the new titles yet. bunkaroo 10-09-07, 06:23 PM So Fox sent copies of The Fly BD to DVD Pacific, but not to Best Buy, "the largest seller of HD media", Amazon.com "#2 seller" or Circuit City? That doesn't make a lick of sense. It may depend on where each distributor gets their stock from. For example: DVD Pacific may get their stock from one of the factories in Asia, while Best Buy may be sourced from Terre Haute, who have had issues. RDarrylR 10-09-07, 06:46 PM Future Shop is owned by Best Buy and they seem to have got stock of it. ss9001 10-09-07, 06:50 PM It may depend on where each distributor gets their stock from. For example: DVD Pacific may get their stock from one of the factories in Asia, while Best Buy may be sourced from Terre Haute, who have had issues. Bingo! I think there is a high possibility you are right. There aren't many other logical explanations. Also, Fly being an MGM title distributed by Fox, may be have been subject to some funky ordering requirements. Maybe Amazon will be able to order it in the near future. All I know is mine is on the way :D ss9001 Maxx_75 10-10-07, 01:43 AM I picked up a copy at Fry's tonight. Can't find Robocop though. |
