Jason,
In another thread you wrote this about the Samsung SP-A800B:
"I too saw this at Cedia. I didn't get the feeling when Mr. Kane said "under $10k" it was going to be way under $10k...I hope I am wrong but it sounded like they were thinking only slightly under. We'll have to see. It was a very impressive demo for sure. As others said, the colors were spot on. Contrast was decent, from eye I would suspect somewhat less than some competitors (ie. Marantz, Sim2...only comparing DLP). It was tack sharp which is great (and he certainly proved that with about 15 minutes of test patterns!).
My main concern is the reliability. I am sure the SP-H710AE fiasco was a fluke, but, a LARGE fluke that cost everyone tons on money. I hope the design is more solid so we don't have a repeat, but regardless, I know there are lots of people on this forum that are going to be very cautious when considering purchasing it."
Jason,
I purchased one of the quirky H710's from you last year and am currently in the process of getting a refund from Samsung. Although the 710 has its problems, I loved the accuracy of the image it projected more so than the image produced by the Marantz VP12-S1 it replaced. BTW, the VP12-S1 wasn't trouble free as I had to have the power supply board and the ballast replaced during its tenure in my HT.
Even with these problems, I was very happy with the images produced by both projectors. For this reason I am considering the SP-A800B and the Marantz VP15-S1 as replacements for the 710.
My question is, will you be retailing the SP-A800B when it becomes available and if so, will you be testing the unit so a comparison with the VP15-S1 can be made?
