After scouring numerous threads and trying to generate idea for what seems to be eternity, I have now found a house that I will be moving into next month, but have no idea how to fit what I want into the basement......Please help!
I am trying to fit a home theater room that can accomodate 6-8 people, w/a 100" screen, a bar area w/room for a foosball table, and a poker table/room. I need serious help w/the layout of it all as I keep drawing blanks.
Here is what the basement looks like:
In all honesty, I think you need to be more realistic. There just isn't a space that will hold all of that in one area. The only way to do it would be to move the post over to the stairwell and potentially also have to beef up the beam.
Then you could do the theater area up toward the top, and the rest toward the bottom with the entrance in the rear. Even so, getting 2 rows of chairs, and a bar, and the game tables back in there is going to be very very tight and is going to push the seating up pretty close to the screen.

I agree- that there is not enough room to to all. My room is 16x16 less a 4x4 corner that wraps around a pipe. In my opinion, there is no way I could have two rows of seats in my room - and I only have a 92" screen. I have 4 of the Lazyboy HT seats pretty much against the back wall. We use a couple beanbags as overflow in the event more than 4 are down there- which in reality rarely happens. 95+% of the time it's just my wife and I after all the kids go to bed.
Looking at your layout, I would use the small room in front of the mech room as a dedicated HT with 4 seats and some sort of overflow. The other, larger side could be used as the multi-purpose game room. You could put a large flat panel on the wall- to save space- so you can watch the game while gaming.
This is more or less how I've got my basement setup. I prefer to have a dedicated HT room as I can close the doors to keep the kids out etc.

Thanks for the quick responses. The room ahead of the mech room I thought at first I might turn into a poker room, and then throw a bar at the end of the other room by the door (rarely, if ever used after move in door), and then throw the screen up and the wall by where the stairs come down. This way I could fit a row of 3 seats in front, w, possibly another 3 seat row behind it.
Then I also started to think about where the door opens in the basement, what if I build a wall a few feet in front of it, leaving enough space to open the door, and perhaps sink all of my equipment into that wall......I would lose about 5 feet of the room this way, but it would leave me with a 18' x 10' theater room, with a 3' walkway to the right of the seats.
I also am a member of the 7' cieling club (thanks to the drop ceiling), which brings up another question, 720p Projector w/100" screen or 1080p Mitsubishi DLP w/73" screen?
