Sony Pictures Australia have just announced Godzilla (1998) for release on November 14th. All the SPHE releases in Europe have not been region coded so far, so any die hard Godzilla fans start lining up :-)

Godzilla 2000 would be a good start. I know these have been remastered in HD as they released the whole catalog a year or 2 ago. Would love to get some of the corny ones in HD (.vs Megalon anyone?)

That's the least liked by Godzilla fans.

I really enjoy this one (I'm in no way a Godzilla enthusiast), but not as a 'Godzilla' movie, but as a "giant-lizard-loose-in-New-York-rollarcoaster-ride-with-jean-reno-collectiing-easy-paycheck" kind of popcorn flick. I have a friend who is a Godzilla enthusiast who put it perfectly: "People run from Godzilla, not the other way around."

I also consider this movie a guilty pleasure. Plus the cute-but-vapid female lead puts in what may be the worst acting performance in an A movie. Ever. But I enjoy the over-the-top attempt she makes, and the movie generally doesn't take itself to serious to be dragged down by it's short comings.

I'd buy it, although I'll have to see the video/audio specs, especially before an expensive import purchase.

This is a fun flick. Now do I save money and wait till spring for the USA release or do I spend twice as much and get the Aussie version this fall? Hmmm.

It's cool that the American Godzilla is getting a Blu-Ray release but I'd much prefer the Japanese flicks (huge Godzilla fan here) sadly I think we'd have to wait for Toho to release them in Japan before they get ported over to America.

I reckon they are a great film to sit back and enjoy with the family.I like the french dude he is a good actor.

It will come but not til mid 2008.

was it a great flick no but it was still enjoyable i will pick it up at some point.

I have already bought too many action flicks like The Rock, Starship Troopers and Air Force One domestically which are slated to have U.S release soon. I might have to either sell these or double dip if the U.S versions feature 24-bit audio track. So let me wait for the U.S release on catalog releases. On the flip side Sony may also try to put DTHD instead of LPCM which is double worry for me.
