You can write BD with this one!

I wonder how many free movies you get with this drive? 5 Free HD-DVDs for the HD-DVD drive, 2 free HD-DVDs from Best Buy, and a few free BDs would be nice!

Now for the disclaimer:
The word is that the computer software will only allow 48 Khz 16 bit audio output. It is only limited to that because PowerDVD thinks it is necessary to comply with Copy Protection. Another example of DRM ruining a perfectly good piece of hardware!

I may get one for my HTPC.

I have been looking for an inexpensive way to play BR discs, but that whole profile/BD+ thing has made me wait. This might be a good way around it.

Already there but do want to go bac to a HTPC setup. However I need 3 things.

1. lossless audio and Master/True bitstream through HDMI.
2. TL51 playback confirmed
3. DB+ playback confirmed

Number 1 might be a very long time!

Could you enlighten me on what 2 and 3 are? Sorry I am still learning about these formats.

You can pick up a refurbished Core2 computer for about $400. $800 total is about what the new Dual Format stand alone players go for. However, the computer will allow you to do so much more!

lack of TL51 would be a show-stopper on those.

Sorry for my ignorance. What is TL51?

Sorry for my ignorance. What is TL51?

Triple Layer 51GB HD-DVD discs.

I think it's really a non issue. If current HD-DVDs can read TL51 like rumored, then I suppose this drive would be able too as well.
