Is there any other server software that allows media players to delete files.
Unfortunately Wizd only works with Syabas media players and there hasn't been much progress for those type of players. I was hoping for a uPnP server with the same function. It would be ideal for serving a whole season of TV shows and deleting as you go through them.

I have never come across any other server software that provides file deletion. The frustrating thing for me has been that in other forums regarding server software improvements I have been boo'd and shutdown for suggesting file deletion as a capability.
IMO and in my wifes opinion it is a must for precisely the reason you stated.

I fully agree and really miss the option for the same reason. 90% of what I watch is 'watch once and delete'. I can do that easily on the main TV but if I watch it anywhere else I have to remember to go to a computer later on to delete the show off the server...
(I use a PC with Mediaportal on my main TV and a bunch of DSM-510's with Twonkymedia on my others).

That's why I love my TViX 4100SH.
Its remote has dedicated Delete button:

Thanks, I did not know this and it is just one more + for the 4100....BTW do you know if the 4000 remote has this feature?

Does that delete button only work on files on the internal hard drive or does it also allow you to delete files on the server?

It allows you to delete from Internal HDD and external USB HDD.
No deletion of the remote clips.
Maybe they'll add this feature later.

Thank you for the clarification....as it turns out I do not think I would have a desire or need to have a HDD installed in the 4100 so the feature would not be of much use until it is extended to all networked drives and folders.
If the server is a box running SMB.
And the player is XBMC, you can configure the player to delete files. Albeit, you must nav to 'My Files' and delete from there.

So has this situation changed after all this time?
Any media servers that allow deletion of files on the server from a Popcorn Hour?

GB-PVR allows delete from a server from the Popcorn Hour client.
