For our video distribution system we convert everything to run over a regular DB-15 VGA PC cables/signals. However, our monitors have a maximum display of 1680x1050. If someone hooks up a laptop that is displaying a higher resolution, all of the monitors will say they are out of range.
What we need is a way to scale the video signal from whatever higher resolution to a lower one. A DB-15 to DB-15 scalar where anything above the dimensions above 1680x1050 (say 1900x1200) be converted down to 1680x1050 or below.
Does such a simple device exist?

A Lumagen HPD or HDQ would be a good choice for this application. These products are installed in many conference rooms and auditoriums with VGA input and VGA output. Please contact us for details on these products.

Randy - Can the HDP and HDQ process a 1920x1200, or 1920x1080, signal on their analog inputs and downscale the output to 1680x1050? I was under the impression that that high of frequency exceeds the capabilities of the video decoder.
Indeed. I don't even see a VGA DB-15 connector anywhere on any of the products, let alone the two required to scale from one to the other. Cool products though.

The HPD has an optional (5) BNC analog output available. The HDQ includes both a DVI and a (5) BNC analog output. You would use a (5) BNC to VGA adapter for the output.
We support a VGA input by using an adapter. On the HDP you would use a VGA to (5) RCA adapter. For the HDQ you would use a VGA to (5) BNC adapter. In both cases you would connect the RGB siganl to one component input and the Hsync and Vsync siganls to two composite inputs.
With the latest software we support input modes up to 1080p30 which covers the 1080p24 native output rate of most Blu-ray and HD-DVD players. We don't support the 1920x1200 mode.
The 1680x1050 custom output mode that you require is supported.
If you need to input up to 1080p60 then you could use our new RadianceXD. We are shipping beta units right now and will soon be going to full production. To connect a VGA input and output to the Radiance requires adapters.
