I just got Dragon's Lair on HD DVD but it's practically non-functional on my setup-> Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive -> Windows XP Pro SP2 32-Bit, Q6600 3.2GHz, 8800 GTS 640MB, 2GB G.Skill DDR2 800MHz RAM, SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty (with SPDIF In/Out and IR Receiver)

I don't seem to have any problems playing my other 16 HD DVDs...

PowerDVD works good but it gets to the Main Menu and clicking 'Play' or 'Features' just momentarily shows a black screen and reloads the Main Menu :confused: the only other track PDVD seems to detect is the trailer-like demo video portion.

WinDVD will enter the game clicking 'Play' but there are weird and frequent audio pauses and sometimes it just flat out cuts scenes short by a few seconds, and it's hard to even time moves correctly. It's not that the video is playing slowly or lagging, it just doesn't want to play the whole scene through at random parts.

I am also trying to use my Creative RM-1800 remote for both PDVD and WDVD. Works great in PDVD except I can't play the game (see above)... Doesn't seem to work at all in WDVD. Works fine in Windows Media Player also. Does WMP play HD DVD?

Before any speculation starts, could you note down the firmware version of your HDDVD drive, and the program version of PDVD, and then check back with Digital Leisure customer service. I was told that the game needs the newest firmware for the HD DVD add-on, and the XB360. Dragon's Lair is one of the rare discs which use standard scripting features, which was not very good tested by the involved companies, as they focused on getting HDi to work flawlessly first. It could very well be the case that your version of PDVD is buggy, or the firmware of your AO outdated.

PowerDVD Ultra 7.3.3104

and how do I check the Xbox 360 Drive Firmware version? Even if I knew, I'm not so sure there is any other firmware

All Google brings up is how to hack the Xbox 360 DVD Drive firmware.

The drive only reads the data, the player software processes it. I think its rather a player issue.

Yes, I now remember a conversation I had with David from Digital Leisure. He told me they had to wait for a firmware update of the XBox360 (not the HD DVD add-on) which was the reason why the release of the title got delayed. Now it came out so they obviously got it running with the newest XBox firmware. I received my copy 2 weeks ago and I only found the time for a quick check. As far as I can say at the moment the title works flawlessly on my stand alone player (XE1). So I'd guess it's the PowerDVD software which causes the trouble.

Btw: I own the BD-J release of Dragon's Lair and it works flawlessly with PowerDVD Ultra
