not sure if this is the right area of these forums.... so sorry if i'm in the wrong spot.

I'm getting a new TV soon but have some questions about hooking up via HDMI
my setup has a Denon AVR 686 receiver, but it only does component switching, not HDMI. i don't want to buy a new Av receiver JUST for HDMI switching (I don't see any in my price range that do it anyway)

I use a harmony all in one remote to switch everything now.I want to hook my cable box and xbox 360 up to the TV via HDMI but I need the sound to go through the receiver, how will that work with audio? (will I be able to use HDMI just for video, and bypass the audio through a digital coax or optical?)

also since my receiver doesn't support HDMI switching is there a switch box I can get that will let me switch between HDMI sources with my Harmony all in one remote?

You would run HDMI to the TV for video and optical or coaxial to your receiver for audio. Then you would just program the Harmony to switch the receiver to the correct input and the TV to the correct input.
