FlatlanderHTPC

Hello AVS Forum
This is my first post here so please bare with me! Forgive me if this is not posted in the right section.
I have 2 problems I need help with (so far LOL) this may be long winded
- just that I am trying to supply any/all info that might help explain
my problems etc.
I just recently purchased and built an HTPC (that is also used for
gaming), here is the system specs:
Intel DP35DPM
Intel Core Duo 2 E6750
Trancend 2 GB DDR2
eVGA Geforce 8800GTS Superclock 320 MB
Hauppauge PVR-150 TV-Tuner
Plextor PX-810SA
Seagate 250GB
Seagate 500GB (for PVR)
AuzenTech X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect
PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610w
Silver Stone LC10-B
Windows Vista Premium
Hooked up to a BENQ DV-3750 37” LCD
Logitech MX3200 Cordless Mouse & Keyboard
TV Source: Shaw Digital Cable (Sask. Canada)
Set Top Box is a Motorolla DCT-2500
Now for the problems:
1) The IR Blaster that comes with the Hauppauge PVR-150 TV-Tuner will
not control my Cable Box (DCT-2500).
I have the latest Hauppauge Drivers for Vista and have the IR Blaster
sensor stuck to the front of my Cable Box (on top of the IR sensor - as the instruction tell me).
I run the IR Blaster Config tool and it seems to be working (the red light flashes) but I can not seem to find a code that will work with my Cable Box. This is a real pain, and all Hauppauge seems to say is - do you have the right drivers loaded..... The remote is working (can open WinTV2000 and what not - so I don’t think that is the problem.
The only thing that I have read on the net relating to this is that perhaps my IR Blaster cable is defective or possibly the red light in it isn’t Infrared??!! Any Help would be so APPRECIATED!!
2) My second problem is really a deal breaker for me.
I have my TV Tuner hooked up to my Cable Box via S Video - So I need to
run sound from my cable box to the PC.
I hooked the audio out red/white (via a phono to 3.5mm cord) into the
line in on my Auzentech sound card.
The problem is that the TV sound is coming through all the time (not just when I have TV software running) and when I run any TV software the audio signal can be heard twice as a delayed echo - SO ANNOYING
There must be a setting I am missing that tells the computer to only use the line-in audio source for TV only or something like that. Or possibly the sound card might be defective? It seemed like a good all round choice for an HTPC.
Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this and a Great BIG Thank
You to anyone that might have an answer for me!!
Hope to hear back from the AVS Forum soon :) so I can start enjoying
this HTPC and my Girlfriend can see why I wanted it in the first place and quit rolling her eyes. (She has no idea why I would want.need an HTPC)!!! lol
