Is there any way to get a schematic diagram of this DVD-LD player's power supply? A repair manual would be nice. Poineer does not stock the repair manual or give any information for repair. I wish they were more like Sony's parts/repair policies.

There is an arc suppression diode on the input after the fuse that is shorted. Snip on end to remove it from the circuit and it will work fine. If you need help send me an Email and I can help later tonight

You are right. I checked the diode with my meter and it was shorted. I didn't know if I was getting a reading thru an another component. I lifted one end of the diode - still a short reading on it - definitely the problem. The unit powers up fine now - thanks. Do you know of an equivalent replacement part for the diode?

The diode is like a safety precaution but not really needed , The player will work fine without it,
That's just like the diodes on the older panasonic vcrs that had them buit worked fine without them.

Not really needed, it is a very cheap surge supressor. You can buy another arc/surge supressor for any part store like Digikey if you feel you need to.
