I downloaded some mkv files with h.264 video at 720p resolution and put it in a .avi container and then muxed with its ac3 audio to play on my new Kiss dp-1600:the video was stuttering quite heavily. What could it be?Is there any solution to make it work right?I also tried with .ts(created with VLC player), but all i could get was sound and no video.Any ideas?(i lowered the encoding profile to 4.1).This is some info from one of the h.264 files:

Ok...try searching for MKV2VFR in the forum.......the method is for remuxing an MKV into an AVI file (these play with no problems on the Lim)....faillng that...does your unit support H.264 720p?

Ok...so if you've tried MKV2VFR = AVI and you've tried MKV2TS = TS, then your stuffed....I'd send a sample off to Kiss and ask them to sort it if they are saying the player supports H.264 720p in either an AVI or TS container...

Looks like your in for long re-encodes....:(

KiSS won't update the player further.
Linksys has officially announced it has no new plans to release updates for
the 1600 player. They consider KNAS the final one... It's their herritage from
the old days at KiSS-Technology...

It could have been so much more...

I don't know anything about this player at all (and it's KISS so I cant be bothered to look around)

BUT, have they stated it supports H.264?...and in what container?

They don't specify containers. If they can support only 1 H.264 file thay
already make that "supports H.264". In the same way tell yell about "network
media player" while it only works with a poor PC Link client or uPnP (no SMB,
NFS or anything..."

They have a great interface and many languages supported which their
stronghold. Not overall a bad player but for the more advanced stuff, it
ain't capable of anything...

Sorry to be so hard but that's what it comes down too...
(even misses GoTo and ZOOM on video... silly)

I have a Sarotech and used River Past Video Cleaner Pro to transform .mkv to .avi. The image looks great, much better that dvds but I got a lagging sound. Then I read in a forum oldpainless kindly pointed that the sound lags 0,85 seconds and adjusted the sound accordingly. It works very well in the beginning of a movie but in the end I get another delay.

This is a know problem with MKV's and River Past Video Cleaner....

Before I got my Lim, I used WME Assistant to re-encode my MKV's to 720p WMV-HD....with the right settings, Pc spec, you can get a very good encode in about 6 hours.....

Let me know if you need more info on the settings for it...
