View Full Version : 8300HD - Can you bypass 'Auto HDMI/DVI' to do a passthrough?

I am using an 8300HD Cable/DVR box through TimeWarner in the Buffalo area. It is connected to my Sony 55A2000 via HDMI.

When connecting with HDMI, the "Auto HDMI/DVI" mode becomes available ... however, the "pass-thru" mode goes away.

The problem is I want to use pass-thru since I have little faith in the quality of the box's de-interlacing/scaling. This becomes all the more true once my Integra 9.8 pre/pro shows up. I would like to take advantage of the HQV Reon processor in it for cable viewing.

Is there any way to accomplish this?

I can't be the only one that wants to use either their TV or an external scaler for de-interlacing/scaling ... can I?

no, i want to as well...

i haven't had a chance to try this yet, but when i was searching for a solution, someone said the following works...

a) hook up by component...
b) select pass-through...
c) with component still connected, connect via hdmi...
d) disconnect component...

and he/she claims that it stays as "pass through"...

i was gonna give it a shot this weekend and see what happens...
