Hey I'm brand new here, so please excuse me if what I'm asking seems really basic/stupid/rediculous/obvious.
Anyway, right now I'm looking to purchase a dvd recorded. However, every unit I looked at had something wrong with it, and now I'm beginning to lose any hope of finding a unit I'm marginally satisfied with. So I was hoping that maybe some of you know about or have a recorder that fits my needs.
Here is what I need in my unit:
1) Has an ATSC tuner (pretty basic, I know), but doesn't downscale the HD signal and then upscales it again (I don't need it to record the HD signal, just display it).
2) Is able to record from premium channels like HBO or Showtime, and allows recording programs/movies at their native resolution (i.e. if said movie/program is broadcast in 16:9, I want to record it that way), from any channel.
3) Plays Divx off of both DVDs and CDs (I read that it's a problem for some players.
4) Reads and writes on DVD-/+R/RW discs.
It would also be nice, but not necessary if:
- the recorder also had a hard drive.
- it had a USB port through which video/music files could be played.
That's pretty much it.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
