Some of the most beautiful images I have ever seen have had DVP-5000 processors.

I have seen this scaler setup with numerous projectors where it was "line doubling" 1080i HDTV to 1080p.... And this was 6-7 years ago!!

and the original Vidikron Vision One (9" CRTs, Electrohome)

I checked the completed eBay auctiions and there was a unit that went for ~$1800 (10 bids).

The last 2 that sold on Videogon went pretty briskly in the sub $2400 range.

I understand that the 5000 takes in a 1080i (or other signal such as 480i, 480p, 720p)input from a blu-ray or hd-dvd play and can output an RGB 1080P signal is that correct? it would also do aspect ratio control on it? Also are the algortyems out dated or does anyone know if you can send it to faroudja for upgrade? maybe even add a hdmi input and output?
