I have all my AV equipment in a separate room from my TV.
I have a Tosh hd-a2
Sony Bravia
Denon AVR-887 (same as 2301 I think)
Satellite receiver
I can't afford to run HDMI to the TV (70-80 feet), so I've run three coaxial cables from the office to the Living Room that I convert to rca for component video at the sat receiver and the TV. I use optical cable from the sat receiver to the Denon for home theater sound.
Now I've bought the Tosh HD-DVD player, and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up. I had thought that I'd run a short HDMI cable between the HD-DVD to the Denon and also run HDMI or component video from the Sat receiver to the Denon. Then I'd let the Denon act as the switching device to output the video to the TV over the components using the coaxials.
However, in reading the Denon manual (a nice piece of clarity there ...) it seems that it won't output to components if the input is HDMI. Is that true and if so, how can I make the system work?
Is the only solution to use component cables from the HD-DVD player to the Denon and forget about hdmi (I've already bought the cable on-line)? Would that work?
And, by running the video through the Denon would I be degrading the HD signal??
Help!
