I hope to begin remodeling of a dedicated HT room in the next few weeks. I have a contractor who will do the the work. The drywall is already up the room as it has been the kid's playroom for years. The room is close to a rectangular shape and is in the 12'x27' range.

I wish I had a CAD drawing I could post...but I don't. The screen wall actually moves to 14' as the final 10 feet of one of the long walls juts out 2 feet (otherwise a perfect rectangle). The entry door into this room is on the long wall but is located within 6 inches of the rear wall.

Our main in decision at this point is deciding if we want to build an equipment closet at the back of the room. You would basically come into the HT through the main entry door and see a closet that would take the rear 3 feet of the HT making it 24' long. I have two rows of Berklines (3 in each row) that would then fit in. I would not have much space behind the rear row of Berklines for surround speakers. They would probably be more in the corner firing downward.

The other choice would be to x the closet and put a rack in the little 2' corner where the long wall juts out from 12' to 14' feet. Then I have room behind my Berklines for surrounds or maybe even a back row of comfortable bar stools.

The closet definitely makes things easier from a wiring standpoint both now and in the future. I am just not sure what I am giving up from a sound and viewing standpoint. Comments?
