I Need To Make A Decision On A Projector... I Have Been Looking At And Mentaly Commited Myself To The Jvc Rs1. But, Im Just Wanting Opinions On Whether I Should Just Wait For The Rs2, And Why? Im Not In An Immediate Rush, So Waiting A Few Months Isnt An Issue. I Do However Need To Keep My Budget Around 5-6k... Any Thoughts, Suggestions Or Opinions Would Be Appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott

I would RS1, the differences are subtle unless youre going to do a scope setup. RS2 will be around 7k easy, most RS1 owners are very happy. Go for the RS/HD1 and enjoy. You can get into the RS1 for around 4-4500 easy.

The RS2 there is no pricing on yet. Plus it isn't going to ship until end of year. If you are not in a hurry, I'd wait since you don't have to have it now. If you are in a hurry, I'd spring for the RS1 and don't look back.

Major diff between RS2 and RS1:
Pricing
30K:1 contrast ratio (RS2)
HDMI 1.3 (RS2 - I think has that)
Included scaling to do a constant image height (2.35:1) setup (big feature).

External scaler is ~$1700 if you want to do CIH.

Don't forget the remote control zoom/focus too. That's a significant feature for some of us.

Tip: You can utilize binoculars.

i agree. that is a nice feature.

im considering these two myself and ill wait a little longer before making a decission. I want to upgrade from my 8720, and while the RS1 is amazing, the RS2 has a few features that might be worth the wait.

Having said that, it could take a while to get it so i might settle for the RS1 anyways.

Don't thikn it'll be long, bet it'll arrive in your hands in December if you want it.
Don't actually thikn there's a big following for the RS2, those with RS1 like it and keep it. Those who wanted to get into JVC LCOS would simply buy the RS1.

Those who are interested in major things like CIH capability...would be interested in the RS2...but there are other options out there.

Time is on your side.

It was having to use binoculars that made me swear I'd get a projector with motorized zoom/focus.

While realizing it might sound gay, the fact that i can get the RS1 in pearl white might be enuff for me to chose that over the RS2.

I love the way the black model looks, but ive got a white ceiling so its just not an option.

Hopefully the RS2 will come in white aswell.

While realizing I am gay, I also prefer the RS1 in white. ;)

I thought I read somewhere that the RS2 included an outboard DVDO VP50 (which is how gamma adjustments were made), but now I can't find any reference to that. Did I dream it?

They are offering an outboard video processor, but it isn't standard with the RS2...additional cost.

Thanks. I guess now I can't complain that I either don't want a VP or don't want the VP they include. Now I can only complain about the price if the projector. :D

JVC offers several options...the RS1 or RS2, a video processor (which is essentially the VP50 from DVDO) and an anamorphic lens/slide (Panamorph UH380). I think the main point of the video processor was to make the lens setup compatible with the RS1.
