We installed a VP-50 with a Panasonic 103" plasma and we are not getting a picture. When we activate the test pattern in DVDO we are getting the DVD player image where the color bars are not. Was also told by DVDO that during the colortest the HDCP shuts off. Was told by Panasonic engineering that you have to use the Panasonic setting in the VP-50 to get it to work. Never seen that setting in the setup menu.

Was wondering if anyone seen that problem before with DVDO scalers and the commercial Panasonic plasmas?

Initially, Panasonic used the VP30 to demonstrate their 103" plasma. The correct setting should be the 1080p-60 output from the VP50.

So the only time that you can see a processed image (on the plasma) is when the test pattern generator is being used? Which input on the Panasonic are you using?

Yes, then the picture is OK. What about the Panasonic setting. Was told by Panasonic that initally the scalers would not work with the Panasonic displays so there is suppose to be a 1080/p panasonic setting o something like it. Any ideas about this?

Based on the manual, this display is expecting a 60.00Hz framerate. The default output frame rate on the VP50 is 59.94 (NTSC standard). You can unlock the framerate to 60.00Hz by going to Output Setup->Framerate->60Hz->Unlock and change the framerate to 60.00.

Saw somewhere that if the scaler is expecting audio over the HDMI and the audio signal is not there (don't think the LG combo player we are using is outputting audio over HDMI) the signal will not be HDCP complient and wont display.

The firmware for te scaler is 1.00. Should I update to the 1.04 firmware?

I would update the firmware to 1.04.

Audio on the HDMI input should not cause problems outputting video over HDMI. Unless you have assigned audio to the HDMI input you are using (Input Adjust->Audio Input) the VP50 is not receiving audio from the source.

The card is HDCP complient. Does the scaler mute the audio when the test bara are used? Was wondering if it has something to do with the audio settings. Was really wondering why the picture would display while the test bars are being udes and not anytime else?!

Audio is output while the test patterns are being used. I agree that your issue sounds curious. Please let me know what happens when you chnage the Output Frame Rate.

Still not working with HDMI from DVD>Scaler>plasma

What works now.
Going from the sat box (DirecTV H20) and LG Blueray player (BH100) with component and from scaler to Plasma with HDMI. If I connect the SAT box directly to the plasma with HDMI it works.

Upgraded the firmware to 1.004. No difference. Tried to disable/enable the HDCP settings in the in/out sections, tried changing the frame rate to 60Hz looked, and also to unlocked /60 Hz.

I assume it does not mather if you are routing the audio through the scaler, since the HDCP is sent on the Viseo path?

To isolate the problem, you should try other output resolutions from the VP50 (480p, 720p-60, 1080i-60) while connected to the Panasonic 103". If possible you should also connect the VP50 to another display trying the same output resolutions. If you are able to get a picture on another display, but not the Panasonic 103" you'll know for sure that the VP50 is outputting a signal. If after doing both of the above you still can not get an image, I recommend that you contact help@anchorbaytech.com or call 866-423-3836 for an RMA and replacement unit. You may also be able to get a replacement unit through your distributor, if applicable.
