Hey, gang..

Getting ready to build the riser and am wondering the right way to isolate the riser..

How many hockey pucks would I need for an 8 x 11' riser? And where would they go?

Also - what's the "bottom" of the riser? Is there a plywood "base", or is it fabric or something else? (I'm wondering how the insulation stays inside the riser when it's raised up by the pucks).

Builder guy is pestering me for specs as he wants to get this finished, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks -

If you are going to use batt insulation its not going any where. I used the Uboats on my riser and did them about every 24" what is the height of your riser?

Riser is 14'' tall..

I agree on the Batt insulation not going anywhere - I guess I was more concerned with fibers from the insulation getting into the air, us breathing them, etc.

Do you guys make a "bottom" to your risers? I thought I read some people enclose it with a fabric of some sort. Or, do you use plywood or something else? (I'd think this would un-isolate the riser joists, tho..)

Where did you get the u-boats from? And how much are they generally?

The Uboats are only 1/2" so once carpet is istalled on your riser and floor your insulation will be sealed in. Check out my build The Copper Fields Cinema (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=869753) thats where I am at now. I am just about done with the riser :) waiting on step lights to finish it up.
